I think its because they’re more scared of the threat of tsukasa than the interest in food/tech. Making them think another country is trying to help brings the potential threat of tsukasa down at least in the short term so they can get the cave for nitric acid

Haha...well regarding the plan to lie, I think the overall thought process actually factors in what you both were wanting to promote to Tsukasa's army - the significant upgrade in quality of life with the ramen, electricity, cola, etc. That's probably why Gen and Senku only commented on being hated when the lie is discovered. Because by that time, those that deserted Tsukasa would also get used to having the "modern" luxuries that Senku and the villagers have developed. So while they would be pissed off about being lied to, they would now have creature comforts that they thought completely lost to them in this stone world. And that would be a very difficult thing to give up for the modern humans. I think the reason why just simply trying to persuade with the "modern luxuries" would not be effective is because currently in this world Tsukasa is the strongest. So besides his charisma, his reputation also instills a sense of fear and respect. Thus, the types of people that Tsukasa revived would likely respond better to the belief that there is a stronger entity out there that can save them, i.e. a recovered America.

Tsukasa isn't threatening his people to keep them in line, he's keeping them together by cult of personality. They aren't scared of him, they adore him, because he's the caveman messiah of a caveman world. The lie undermines Tsukasa's authority by convincing his followers that the modern world is back, meaning Senku already won, Tsukasa lost, and he and his ideology are no longer needed.

Al Kinorthay

Nitric acid also gives them gunpowder. Even if the lie is revealed, I don’t think Tsukasa or his army would have the power to overcome that.

Derpin

Remember, they need revival fluid to make guns. That's one of the reasons it won't matter if they lie to them.

As cool as Senku's "science has been without God for 10 billion years" line was, the scientific method was literally built upon the foundation that was laid by God-believing scientists who were able to agree on basic objective fundamental truths because of the stability their faith allowed them...once they got past the Reformation and people were allowed to apply their science to things and not be labeled a heathen, that is. Almost every notable scientific figure before the 1900's was a Christian (of differing denominations/beliefs), and Charles Darwin's Origin of Species was shocking for breaking away from young earth creationist theory to bring in an old-earth model alongside his evolutionary theory. So, Senku (as an avid Science Guy) should know better than to discount God's involvement in scientific advancement. Even if he doesn't believe in God, scientific history is certainly not a Godless endeavor.

Everybody needs to taste the freeze-dried Ramen so they know the worth of it firsthand and know why it's important to produce and what it's good for.

Despite them having heating and good food, Gen's argument was that they don't follow Tsukasa because of food but because of his Charisma. He was already a celebrity in the modern times. Imagine you wake up 3700 years from now with a celebrity you might like and already know, who's naturally charismatic. In a completely wild world like that were the threat of death is much more imminent, you'd choose what's familiar and what keeps you safe. They don't know Senku, they don't know if they can trust him and Tsukasa might have already told them about him too, so if they think that Tsukasa is good hearted and that Senku's actions will bring back war, than they'd probably rather choose Tsukasa.

respect guys. people can feel that way even if they don't add "for me" at the end, what they say is specifically for them although, it's pretty unwise to tell that to people who are sticking around

Why "unwize", cuz I'll get banned for having an opinion? This whole reply thread reeks of toxic positivity.

jom

That's false, Muslim scientists were an important part of pre-modern science.

Renden

@jom My friend, you are missing the point and have only succeeded in actually strengthening my argument. The point was God-believing individuals have contributed greatly to science long before God was removed from science.
