It's hard not to make puns with vague spoiler, it's like the 'door' is wide open and i can't pass it T-T. Sadly the turning point won't happen like i wanted it to. But still i trust the studio to do a good job since it's the peak of Mushoku Tensei.

Billbob

Gonna be a crazy few weeks now that TP4 is here, theres 4 episodes left of the season so hopefully it doesnt end with much of a cliffhanger but idr how much content they have to adapt to cover all of the upcoming hype before a good stopping point. Really interested to see how it gets handled, wouldnt feel too bad if they have to stretch things into the next season since its worth it but we shall see soon enough Also hope you guys are doing well and not getting hit by the latest wave of copystrikes, been worrying how many not-small creators have been getting harassed badly in this last week

Heather

Wait yall watching this anime. Im not gonna lie I thought yall would hate it because of the weird stuff.

Exit

If I remember correctly in S1 when Rudeus vs Orsted, Orsted did summon the front Wyrmgate to block Rudeus’ attack but he did it incantation less. So I think that goes to show just how much more powerful Orsted is

The Anime Dude

One of my favorite things about Mushoku compared to other Isekai: he has major impact on the world no doubt, but it doesn’t revolve around him. He’s just living in it. And arguably one of his biggest strengths is just the connections he’s made - but that’s not to be conflated with him being able to do everything on his own. People get so used to other Isekai protagonists being all powerful as they impose their will on the world in an unrealistic way, and I think because of that Rudeus gets too much flack for not being able to change aspects of the world all on his own. Especially because compared to the average mage he is really powerful, but he’s far from the strongest in the world - there’s some heavy hitters with hundreds of years of experience under their belt. Here we see a spell caster with much more combat experience than Rudeus predicting how to respond to Rudeus & abridging his spells to do so. Rudeus can hit hard, he’s a glass cannon with a ton of mana who has adventuring experience vs monsters and stuff, but… he’s not really someone who has a lot of combat experience or who enjoys combat or conflict… in fact he often does his best to avoid it if at all possible. P.S. Zanoba the GOAT.

Kindyh Bordat

Perugius isn't as strong as you guys think (compared to top tiers of the verse), he took advantage of her weakened state to attack her. In a real 1v1 Atofe would "easily" win, Perugius isn't a fighter, that's why he as strong familiar, his casting take a lot of time (That's why Rudeus and Sylphie are in a different category of warrior). And the pact came from the first North God Kalman 1, who didn't want his best friend and his wife killing each other. Also she mentioned her son, she said she didn't see him for a century which mean he is still alive thousands of years after and still alive today... (And we encountered a member of the Khalman family already in the novels, it was during the demon continent arc, they sadly didn't adapt it in the anime, maybe they'll do a flashback because it was a really important encounter that affected the story greatly.) And finally every time there is a turning point, it lead to the death of people, the teleportation incident caused the death of Eris whole family and Sylphie family. Turning point 2 lead to the death of Rudeus, turning point 3 lead to the death of Paul. So you saying it could be anything... not really. All where event who turned Rudy life around completely. (Read @Blood_drac comment for better explanation of the episode and some of the content that weren't adapted.)

The Anime Dude

Also, in regards to Steph’s comments on disturb magic towards the end… we need to keep in mind that Moore was partially shocked by it cuz it’s not common or well known, he might not even know it - Rudeus learned it from surviving that encounter with Orsted & then replicating him… he’s taught Sylphy too I think, but we haven’t see anyone else who knows how to do it, if they even know it exists.

Kindyh Bordat

They know how to differentiate fiction from reality unlike many others on the internet.

The Anime Dude

Fun Fact: we finally saw the author’s profile picture for social media… it’s Kirishika tied up after getting captured. 😭 She’s such a goofball of a character, always fun when she makes an appearance!

Felipe Rodrigues

When comparing the "weird stuff" with the amazing world-building and character, the weirdness is irrelevant

Oasis

It's like they understood and saw the character develpoment throughout the show - the same one that so many deny exist

Holy Arathi

I just assume Perugius didn’t kill Kishirika because she’s no real threat. But I haven’t read the LN or that far into the manga. So idk if he has a reason or what his actual thoughts on demons, in totality, are.

wyggles

What the Sokas grass does is congeal the mana in the body and expel it with their poop. Also, the "hole" Kishirika mentioned in the beginning where the grass used to grow is actually the whole Ringus Sea separating the continents. Yes, the world used to be one continent and a fight between gods blew a giant hole in it and created a new ocean. Atofe got stunned by Rudeus' electric magic, that's why she was trembling. Atofe's husband, Kalman Rybak, was a human and Perugius' best friend. Before he died he made them promise not to kill each other. That's the "pact" they were talking about. They WyrmGates Perugius summoned drained all of Atofe's mana, which is what let him slice her in half so easily. But she's immortal so she'll be put back together eventually. Moore is hundreds of years old and has tons of combat experience, way more than Rudeus. So it makes sense he gave Rudeus so much trouble. He was even more ridiculous in the LN where he would start chants to counter Rudeus' magic before the spells even hit. He can also truncate spells like Roxy does.

Eric

It's not really a spoiler but Perugius has a personal grudge against Atofe so he feels indifferent towards Kishirika. That's why he left her alone.

Taro

non spoiler regarding your discussion about tactics for fighting mages. In season 1 turning point 2, before Orsted knew that Rudeus can do incantationless magic, the first thing he did was ruptured Rudy's lungs so he couldn't speak and cast any spells.

Fear

True that’s why I love ReZero and Subaru aswell.

The Anime Dude

100%. Subaru has a bit more leeway to impose his will in some ways & less in others, but there’s a reason they’re 2 of my favorite isekai / isekai protagonists.

ReCursed

He chanted but very short

Marko Genter

this is only the first part of the season like the first 2 seasons as well so going by those we will get part 2 in like 8-12 months

Marko Genter

You have looked at the next episode title for like every episode except this one lmao

Oasis

Remember that the title of "King" is unisex in this world. Women can be kings (both politically and a rank of their magic/swordsmanship). There are no queens in this world, in the literary sense. Also, Atoferatofe (pronounced A-TOW-FERRA-TOAF) is Badigadi's elder sister. It was said last episode. That's why they can both regenerate. Also Disturb Magic can't stop a spell once it's already formed. Rudy stopped Moore's wind spell with the scale of the hydra that we saw him experimenting with earlier in the season. You were pretty much spot on with how the magic works at the end. That's why Orsted collapsed Rudy's lungs in Turning Point 2 because, for any other mage, that would be a death sentence. Kal is Kalman. It explained it in the episode; I think you missed it. He was the best friend of Perugius and also the husband of Atoferatofe, the Immortal Demon King. It will be explained next episode (hopefully).

Billbob

Nah they saw it once they finished their discussion right at the end.

Dunsparce

On the topic of stopping a spellcaster from speaking, it's already been shown. In Season 2 part 1 when they capture Linia and Pursena, Rudy casts a small dust cloud in Pursena's face so she can't use the Beast peoples vocalisation magic that Gyes uses in season 1 to paralyse him.

Fukayo

It's easy to miss because both the Japanese and the demon language show up as subtitles, but going by her interaction with Zanoba, we know Atofe doesn't speak the human language. So during that whole back and forth with Perugius, she couldn't understand a word of it, while he understood her fine and deliberately chose to keep answering in human. Also, his incantation is "In the name of Armored Dragon King Perugius, I summon you". He's talking about himself there. "In the name of X" is a set phrase, it names the authority behind the act, not the person performing it. A king issues decrees "in the name of the King". In the Bible, God introduces himself to Moses in the third person.

Oasis

Buckle up for next week. This may be the biggest Turning Point. All Turning Points permanently alter the trajectory of Rudy's life. A quick recap of the Turning Points so far and why they've been significant: Turning Point 1 - The Teleportation Incident. Basically kick-started the entire story. Every character arc was affected by this. Paul's death, Zenith's disappearance, Eris' eventual leaving of Rudy, meeting Ruijerd. It completely changes everything about the story! EVERYTHING!! Turning Point 2 - Meeting Orsted and Nanahoshi. We get introduced to Orsted, who permanently traumatises Rudy (keeping his ego in check), and Nanahoshi, who is from Earth. It's also what motivates Eris to leave Rudy because she feels she's not strong enough for him, eventually leading Rudy to the Academy where he marries Sylphie. Turning Point 3 - Sylphie is pregnant (a massive change for Rudy's life) and Rudy gets a letter from Geese saying that Zenith's rescue is difficult. Rudy, for the first time, ignores the Man-God's advice to stay home, and goes to help his father. Leads to Paul's death, Zenith's rescue and the discovery of her state, and Roxy becoming Rudy's second wife. Turning Point 4 - ???

Area Vanquisher I

@12:08 "It's like she's the god of war or something." That would be correct, the book mentions there's a saying in the demon continent that goes "Badigadi brings wisdom, Atoferatofe grants power, and Kishirika bestows Demon Eyes."

John Spartan

That's why they are one of my favorite reactors, millenial Christian(?) parents with jobs (or job). And yet they always approach each show in good faith and with an open mind, delivering fun reactions and good discussions.

EddyTheMoza

1:35 | Good catch, Steph! In the light novels, even Rudy himself worried Cliff would use the opportunity to wish for a Demon Eye, and he even felt bad for doubting his friend after Cliff immediately wished for a cure. He's grateful for his friends :) The deal King Atofe offered Rudy was a bit more detailed in the light novel, but I can see why it was cut. Simply put, Atofe offered Rudy... Power. He would get the right to join her guard for 10 years, where she would train him. Rudy toyed with the thought of joining to become stronger, even to protect his family, but threw that idea away because he would miss them. The rest of the Royal Guards actually do get vacation time. For every 10 years of service, you get 2 years off to see your friends and family, but the contract is renewed every time, so you work for her until you die... I could talk about Moore for paragraphs. He's honestly one of my favorite characters in the light novel, despite only appearing briefly, but he truly showed us what a battle-experienced mage can really do. In the light novels, Rudy did a lot more to try and stop Moore, but Moore was so prepared that by the time Rudy was finished casting his spell, Moore was already casting a counter at the same time. This is because Moore is able to shorten his incantations to less than a sentence. It's like what Wes said: Atofe's Royal Guard are more like babysitters for a powerful demon god. Also, I will put some context down below if you want to know more about the husband of Atofe. Now, feel free to skip this because it is something that is talked about in the light novels later on, but I have a feeling it will probably be glossed over in the anime to save on time, so it's up to you if you want to learn more. As Atofe mentioned, her husband was the North God Style founder, Kalman Rybak I, aka Kal. He was one of the 3 legendary heroes who fought alongside Perugius during the Laplace War 400 years ago, hence why Perugius called him his dearest friend. Now, since he was human, yes, he is long gone, but before he died, he made sure Perugius and Atofe agreed to a pact because they don't get along at all. The pact is pretty much, "Since you guys both love me so much, make sure to get along! Little fights are okay once in a while, but no killing!!!" And that's pretty much that. Perugius took advantage of Atofe being in a weakened state and decided to get some petty payback on her! If you wanna know what Perugius was doing with the Wyrmgate spells, basically, having both gates opened created a loop where all of Atofe's Battle Aura was being drained and looped through the gates, which is why Perugius' follow-up chop did so much to her.

Leandro Calderón

Perugius is not really a step above Atofe in terms of power, they are more or less evenly matched, with Atofe having the upper hand most of the time, that's why he was so happy at the opportunity to get back at her so easily. Also the pact with "Kal" that they mentioned was a agreement between Perugius, the first North God Kalman Ryback, and Kalman's wife, Atoferatofe. Kalman was Perugius' best friend during the Laplace war, and the two of them, alongside Orsted's predecessor, Dragon God Urupen, fought and defeated Laplace. So "Kal" as Perugius called him, knowing that they hated each other because Atofe was one of Demon God Laplace's generals made them swear that they would not kill each other after he died (he was a human after all) but of course Perugius couldn't let go of the opportunity to bully her. Also the reason that Perugius let Kishirika go so easily at the end is because she wasn't around for the Laplace war 400 or so years ago, as she was reincarnated only around 300 years ago, so he doesn't really have a reason to go after her. And the reason that Moore regenerates is because he is from the same race as Atofe and Badigadi, he is an Immortal demon as well.

ByakkoByakuya

Wes mentioned how fast Moore's casting speed is, but in this adaptation he wasn't actually casting fast enough. In the novels chanting his incantations before Rudy even finished charging his spells. He's that much of a formidable spellcaster, and outclassed Rudy in this particular battle.

Sergey (Horn)

Yes, you're right, Orsted used Wyrmgate against Rudeus and stopped his incredibly powerful blue fireball with it. It seems to be a mana-draining spell.

Sergey (Horn)

The Japanese language makes this difficult, as "L" and "R" are interchangeable. For example, "Lala," "Lara," and "Rara" are all the same name in Japanese (there's no such name, but it does appear in fantasy settings). This is important in the context of the pact—Perugius mentions a pact with "Kal," but that's also "Kar." And Atofe, in her welcoming speech, says she's the wife of "Karuman the First, founder of the North Sword Style." Accordingly, "Kal" is "Karuman."

Dawnswan

It’s been said in a couple comments already but what Wes said about is it possible to cut down on the incantations, it is and that’s one of the reasons Moore was so quick with his spells, Roxy has also learnt how to cut down on her incantation with us seeing it earlier in the season

Sergey (Horn)

Yes, Moor is an amazing mage. It's not just his casting speed; he also selects the right spells for the right situation very quickly, something many mages struggle with. He also knows the right spells (maybe he knows at least all the Advanced-level spells of all schools of magic?). Yes, mages with experience can shorten spells. During their first meeting, Roxy asks Rudeus if he always shortens spells, to which Rudeus replies no, usually he "just skips" them. So, in this world, it's possible to shorten spells (essentially, to sense the flow of mana instinctively and channel it, not completely, but partially, into the desired "form," which shortens the spell). Roxy also uses shortened versions of some spells in the second season. You've made a good point that if you deprive a mage of the ability to speak, they won't be able to incant—that's true. That's why, in his battle with Rudy, Orsted began by destroying Rudy's lungs. And when Rudy, without incantation, summoned wind magic to breathe in to avoid losing consciousness (which was clever), Orsted asked in surprise why Rudy didn't heal himself instead. But Orsted didn't know that Rudy couldn't use healing spells without incantation because he couldn't sense the flow of mana when he use healing spells.

David Stern

I definitely agree that him just being another dude in this world is awesome, but I do feel like the way this fight was depicted made it feel like Rudeus wasn’t really doing enough. Like there were so many moments where Moore was just chanting long spells uninterrupted. I do think that some of this was probably just to not have them talking/casting over each other and some of this stuff was probably actually happening simultaneously, but Rudeus can cast without incantations and was still setting of his spells slowly like this is a turn-based rpg. I think it’s fine that Rudeus doesn’t have the best battle sense since he isn’t really a warrior or fighter (though he did spend a good chunk of his life as an adventurer), but still felt frustrating to see so much dead air. Like even if you’re a battle noob, surely you’d at least try to fire off as many spells as you can. But sorry for ranting, still totally agree with your sentiment that I like that Rudeus isn’t like a world-warping figure, I just thought his fighting ability can be frustrating at points, especially when there are other fights where we can see how badass he can be.

David Stern

lol Wesley, Perugius did not summon himself man. He said: “I summon thee in the name of the Armored Dragon King Perugius.” I was like wtf is Wes talking about, and had to go back and see what you read.

Zachary Fewins

The “Kal” that Perugius has a pact with is North God Kalman I. His real name is Carl Ryback and he’s the North God who married Atofe. It’s a little vague in their lines, but it seems that Kalman I made a pact with Perugius to protect his wife. Kalman I was one of the great heroes who fought alongside Perugius in the Laplace war and helped kill Demon God Laplace. I don’t think this is spoilers, but if someone corrects me I’ll delete this.

Zachary Fewins

It’s misleading to say he isn’t strong. He is still VERY strong, as he’s still a dragon king and is incredibly proficient in barrier and summoning magic, but what makes him such a big player on the world stage is his massive resources. He’s been alive for a long time and has had massive prep time to contribute to any fight he enters. He has weapons, familiars, teleport circles, chaos breaker, and quite a bit of political power and reverence for his contributions in the Laplace war.

Sergey (Horn)

It's a shame the anime neglects to highlight Rudeus's incredible strength (but Atofe was still extremely dangerous to him, especially when she was with others). To understand his powers, there was an episode in the Web Novel where Rudeus was in the Great Forest among the beastmen, but no longer in prison. He was very bored, so he decided to try learning to fly using wind magic. He launched himself into the air, but realized he couldn't control his flight and fell in the middle of the forest, far from the village, breaking his legs upon landing (incidentally, the same thing happened later when he was rescuing Aisha, although he flew up using an "earth spear" that time). He wasn't sure which way the beastmen village was, and there were monsters in the water around him. Then, frightened, he decided to freeze the surrounding water. Later, Ruijerd and the beastmen came to him. When they saw Rudeus, they said they came to see because the water had frozen several kilometers around Rudeus's location, and they couldn't figure out what was causing it. Confused and unwilling to say he'd flown but fallen and gotten lost, Rudeus apologized for bothering them and said he was simply practicing magic. Everyone was in awe of his magic. We're also repeatedly told that in most of his previous battles, he's used to holding back to avoid killing his opponents or harming his allies with his magic (in the fight scene with Sylphy/Fitts, he initially aimed a rock bullet at her head because he'd been told the magical barrier would heal any wounds, but changed his mind at the last moment, not wanting to risk it—and rightfully so, as he pierced the barrier and the wall made of magic-resistant brick). And it's precisely this context that makes his opponents seem even more dangerous and powerful.

Zak

To answer some of the questions in discussion, shorten spelling 100% exists and in fact Moore is using shorten spell the whole fight. The Author even said on Twitter that Moore is a more skilled mage in mage to mage combat than Rudy, as the sign of a skilled mage is always able to pick the most optimal spell in an instant which Moore is doing during the fight. Also incantationless casting doesn’t mean your spell unreadable as in the Novel Moore is always preparing for the counter before Rudy could finish casting his spell. My personally head cannon is a skill mage could read how people is affecting the mana around the casting and guess what spell they are trying to use.

Rostislav

Just one episode for my favorite demon king 😭 All your questions are answered in the light novel, but I'm not sure if they'll be addressed in the anime. I hope that later on, the anime-only viewers will be told what the difference is between Laplace and Rudeus, even though they have the same amount of mana. I won't go into that here; I'll say that it's part of the world-building, and it all makes perfect sense. P.S. Other reactors are being bombarded with strikes on YT. I hope everything is going well for you 🙏

Rostislav

That's simply the difference between mages and warriors in the world of Mushoku. In a major war, you want to have a powerful mage on your side, but in a one-on-one fight...

Zachary Fewins

It seems Kalman made a pact with both Atofe and Perugius, so that his friend and wife(who both hate eachother) wouldn’t try to kill eachother.

Jack Witt

The Front Wyrmgate (first seen in Turning Point 2) absorbs mana and the Rear Wyrmgate absorbs Aura. Perugius rendered Atofe completely powerless.

Zak

My personal view on most immortal demon kings, and Kishirika in this show is they are opposite side of the same coin as Frieren. When someone could lives for thousand of years and even death isn’t truly the end and doesn’t have fatal consequences (as we know Kishirika will literally reborn again even if she death). You either internalize and detach from the world like Frieren did in the beginning of the show. Or just lives in the moment and throw caution or even thinking to the side like Kishirika and Atofe. Also while joining as Atofe’s guard is a life time deal. It does said in the contract you get two years holiday after every ten years of service. So yay for worker’s rights I guess.

Zak

Without spoiling anyone accidentally reading this, I feel like Perugius definitely gets an exaggerated bad rep among the fandom regarding to his strength. He is just more situational and needed to be in his element for his full strength. Saying him isn’t strong is definitely misleading. And without spoiling anyone. I just think the quote that makes some of the fandom think he isn’t strong comes from a character that is rather an unreliable source at that point of time.

blood_drac

No spoilers as usual and you already covered some of this as well as previous but I will add more context from light novel 1. Atofe is Badigadi's sister and they are both part of the Immortal Demon Race/Clan. They are the children of one of the Five Great Demon Kings Necross 2. North God Kalman Rybak married Atofe and they had a son who Atofe said she hasn't seen in 100 years. Allegedly this son became the heir to the North God style and was called North God Kalman II 3. Perugius and Kalman I were among the heroes who sealed Laplace and they were best friends. Kalman I married Atofe and made them swear a pact that they would not kill each other when he was gone. This is the pact Perugius and Atofe are referencing. Kalman I/Kal was a human so had a normal lifespan. 4. Moore can survive being smashed in the head because he is an Immortal Demon hybrid. He's at least half Immortal Demon and the other half is likely Dwarf given his size. Atofe and Badigadi are 100% Immortal Demon. Moore can shorten incantations which is a rare skill in this world but not the same as Incantationless Magic like Rudeus/Sylphie are capable of. 5. Atofe was shaking because Rudeus' electric spell did that to her. Evidently it is very effective against even Immortal Demons. 6. Moore was shocked that Rudeus could use Disturb Magic because it is insanely rare. Moore is not even capable of this magic despite him being thousands of years old. In the series we've only seen Orsted, Rudeus, and Sylphie use it. Sylphie learned it from Rudeus who copied it from Orsted after it was used against him. 7. Rudeus used the Manatite Hydra scale/gem which he installed in the Hand of Zaliff to absorb Moore's Wind Bind spell he casted at Cliff. The hydra scale nullifies magic that has already been casted just like the Manatite Hydra did. This is different than Disturb Magic which is a technique that scatters mana before it has been casted. So Rudeus now has two extremely rare anti magic abilities in his toolkit. The Hydra scale basically uses the user's own mana to nullify an equal amount of the opponents mana in the spell.

Tim Tim

27:50. Im sure many already commented, but in short, Perugius friend Kalman Rybak were a human (Founder of North sword god style) that fighted Atofe, but they ended up together and married each other, and even had a child. Because Kalman didn't want he's friend and wife to fight each other they wrote a contract, that out of respect to Kalman, they won't fight each other. BUT, Perugius found a loop-hole, because it technicaly wasn't a fight, it was one-sided slaughter, so he allowed himself to attack this one time And I like fighting in this anime aswell. For example this fight showed how insane a master-mage can be (In the novell Rudeus were straight-up afraid, as soon as rudeus wanted to gather mana to cast a spell, Moore already started chanting counter-spell. And he even shortened he's chants like Roxy can)

Fabien

Kal is Kalman, the husband of Atofe she mentioned, and also the founder of the North God style. He was indeed the friend of Perugius. Btw Atofe said she didn't know what Kishirika looked like in her child form because she only knew her when she was an adult. That's who the portrait we saw when they entered the city was: Kishirika when she was an adult.

Fabien

She says "Kalman" in the speech, not Karuman. It's probably a more accurate transcription, even if it's Karuman in romajis yes. Anyway, they just didn't get the link between Kal and Kalman.

Carlino McClain

Y'all are not ready for the next episode, I really hope they adapt it to perfection to give the best experience possible.

Billbob

Yeah, I'm hoping they are safe enough from the wave of strikes just because the only anime reactions they upload to youtube are heavily edited and up-pitched so whoever at VIZ that is going on this strike rampage doesnt notice them as much.

blood_drac

Oh, one more thing. The reason why Atofe's guards except for Moore didn't die on the spot from Rudeus' Frost Nova is because their black armor is magic resistant. Moore wouldn't have died anyway.

Ryne

The government of the Demon Continent is definitely interesting. The cities largely run themselves with lower ranked officials, but there are a ton of demon kings that are above them. And despite her title as Demon Emperor, Kirishika has no authority over anyone. Though when she eventually regains her adult form and true strength, that could potentially change. Also, strictly speaking, what is a demon is complicated. The reason their designs are so varied is because demon isn't 100% a race/species. Demihumans/beastfolk that fought on the demons side in the wars were reclassified as demons. Anyways, really looking forward to your reactions to the next episode. Turning Point 4 is something that should definitely be first experienced blind.

DocGreen

Just to let you guys know. Rudeus used disturb magic the first time. The second time he used the hydra scale. Disturb magic only works to stop a spell currently being cast. Once it's already cast it can't be used so that's when rudeus uses the hydra scale embedded in his glove hand to neutralize the last spell

DocGreen

Her name is pronounced a toe fay ra toe fay. Also when it comes to spellcasting Roxy figured out a way to shorten hers after meeting Rudy. And since Rudy doesn't need to say anything he can charge a basic fireball and make it saint tier in power but it does take time to charge up which is what moore was taking advantage of using his shorten incantations along with pure experience

testlunch

Did I miss him installing the hydra scale in his hand, or was that cut? I do remember Cliff and him talking about the scale and you do see it glowing in the hand there. But thanks for including that one because I just thought it was like a stronger version of Disturb Magic that absorbed it instead. Which I guess it is but I didn't think it involved a magic item essentially.

Rostislav

Strikes are thrown automatically, even on talk videos that contain no anime footage; a mere mention of anime in the video title is enough.

Zen

Wes and Steph are open-minded intellectuals that is critical and principled. Don't insult them like that. Also, a person of ordinary intelligence would be able to differentiate between fiction and reality. The bar is already low enough.

DemoniCross

The incantation from the LN: "This dragon lives only to serve. His claws are so long and sharp, he can never clench his hand… When rage consumes him, he cannot close his fist. Although his claws may break and his fangs fall out, you shall soon realize what emotion consumes this faithful dragon as he abandons his devotion! O dragon general, thou who was the third to die, whose eyes were the sharpest, whose body was covered in white scales—I, Armored Dragon King Perugius, summon thee. Open, Rear Wyrmgate. Beckon forth, Front Wyrmgate." We saw Orsted use the Front Wyrmgate against Rudy almost incantionless, saying only "Open, Front Wyrmgate". It's a spell to drain mana. Perugius uses it here in addition to the Rear Wyrmgate, a spell that drains battle-aura, a strengthening aura that warriors have. Atofe mentions that Zanoba must have some aura when she struck him with her sword at the castle, and Badi told Rudy that he doesn't seem to have any aura.

Loro Lukic

I absolutely geeked out when turning point 4 showed up Cant wait

blood_drac

I dont think there was an installing scene but there was a scene of Rudy being given the hand and then a scene of Cliff and Rudy testing the properties of the Manatite scale.

Aquos Rocketleague & Stuff

cliff was holding his eye at the end, and kishirika said "that settles it" i wonder if cliff got a certain gift. (Im just speculating i didnt read the manga)

Kindyh Bordat

@Zachary : You are right i probably oversimplified it. i'll edit my comment and add more details.

D. L. Pulver

That was a good magic duel. There are some tabletop RPGs (and computer ones) that would let you do that sort of magical duel more easily. For example, in GURPS it often takes 2-3 turns (each a second long) to cast a spell - sometimes more for powerful ones - and there are counterspells and blocking spells, but if you get really good with a spell (each is its own skill) you can reduce casting time or silent cast.

Xan

Man I fucking love watching your reactions, there is not a single detail Wesley misses.

Dragons like Bananas

About Rudy powering up weaker spells , I think the best example is the fire ball he used against Orsted, fire ball is a Beginner ranked spell but he was able to get it up to Emperor rank bordering on God rank just by dumping more mana into it .

Dragons like Bananas

Another limitation for Rudy might be his body in general. Human body's might not be strong enough to withstand casting the highest ranking spells , we already saw Rudy struggling to control the mana required for a king rank spell , needing to use both his hands to stabilize his staff ( when he first used lightning ) . Although I don't think they've ever shown humans being weaker physically compared to other races so it might be a purely mana control thing .

If y'all liked the casting time, in Pathfinder 2e, the combat with magic has casting time compared to D&D. In combat, a player has action economy, usually 3 action points. Typically a player can use one action point to attack or move. When casting, there's spells that take 3 action points, or 6, or etc. That means the mage sit there for a while casting magic. If one player's action takes about 6 seconds ingame, a one minute cast takes 10 turns.
