PEAK episode🔥🔥

Rabestor

yeaah! Reid Rorschached him LoL

Marko Genter

Reid basically just did what Toji did in season 2 of JJK lol.

Sultan

10:20 Emilia did that too

Kindyh Bordat

I consider myself as a "Rezero hater" since i'm very critic of the show, but God this episode is amazing.

Theodore Achampong

I think Reid did know about his return by death in that purple void thingy as I'm guessing he got Roy's memories after "consuming" him and Roy should know something about Subaru's death ability

Sharrpfangs

Honestly fair in early series but if its about subaru personality i can't agree because that's like saying you hate character development

Carlino McClain

24:38 At this point Reid realizes that Subaru has the ability to Return by Death. In fact, in every loop so far, he's known about his Return by Death because all of the memories that each gluttony eats is transferred to one another.

Kindyh Bordat

His personality didn't change much in my eyes, he went from a mental illness to another, that's why i like newbaru, he act and think totally differently. And it's even better in the next arc but i won't spoil it.

Hayate

Subaru about to watch the first 3 seasons of Re Zero

Reminder

maybe wait until explanation in the anime instead of spoiling?

Reginald Madtail

I love that Gluttony tried to mindjack Reid, but Reid flipped it around and bodyjacked Gluttony.

Michael Johnson

25:47 There is also something to be said that Subaru is willing to die so casually to try different outcomes. It's what Echidna wanted from him in season 2 and he flat out rejected it then.

Dani

Well yeah this is his greatest point of character development. Tbh i feel like your view is kind of a childish way to look at things because you clearly like subaru in arc 7 or after, but still criticize the show for the way his personality was up to now. Like the point of the show is his growth and problem solving through the connections he makes, so him being unlikeable or annoying at the start isn’t bad writing.

Tim Tim

44:04, yeah so Reinhards grandma - Theresia, is dead. Especially after last season where they killed her again. Reinhards mom on the other hand is alive, but in a comatose state, similiar to being fully eaten like Rem, yet everyone does remember her. It's not spoiler, it's told in side-stories, but I think it's almost first time they told this in anime. Break-time is nice to watch, they put stuff that they didn't put in anime, and alot of foreshadowing

The Anime Dude

I can’t remember if this was said in the anime or not - so this may be a web novel only thing - but one of the reasons Shaula was so impressed with even the most mediocre of cooking that they brought (I think she was even wanting Emilia to become her cooking teacher even though Emilia is not the best cook), is because she’s been surviving off ma beast meat - but that stuff tastes AWFUL. She just didn’t really have anything else to compare it to… That & she’d never even made it up to the library or anything like that, so only a couple rooms she’s visited in the whole tower. Makes the 400 years of waiting backstory so much worse to me. 😢 Poor Shaula.

momokisslove

Bro just doing pride route 2.0 xD

nik

they did... they have confirmed that Gluttony knows of RBD... And know they confirmed that Reid has Gluttony's memories... so they did explain it. It wont become any clearer than this

Sharrpfangs

I mean you try losing your memories their gonna be a better version than you if they don’t have an identity crisis that is

레굴

Reid didn’t lose his eye. The reason he wore an eye patch was an advantage given to the opponent. Satella is basically immortal, so she doesn’t lose to anyone. However, Reid Astrea is even stronger than Satella

Flur

"Didn't change much", now that's a different level of larp, until we know what would be a considerable character development in your eyes, this stance it's just raw blind bias, this whole character arc it's to atest his development, and how he essentially changed

Phantom Demon

I must resist the uge to read the manga/vn

Kindyh Bordat

@Fake smiles : Yes amnesia is a cheat. But the fact that deleting the memories produces a healthier person is exactly my argument. Subaru can't heal with the kind of life he lives around Emilia, he just add trauma and mental illness to replace the previous ones.

Kindyh Bordat

@Dani : I'm not saying he is unlikable, a lot of young people with low self esteem probably relate to him, i personally don't but still i understand people who do. My argument is that he swaps one mental illness, one trauma for another. That's different from saying he "Doesn't grow". Liking newbaru isn't liking his growth arc, it's about him actually thinking and acting differently. Subaru can't actively learn and change when his life is constantly in danger, and he will probably be happy in the end when the royal selection is over and the witch cult defeated but that would litteraly be the end of the series.

Kindyh Bordat

@Flur : Read what i actually said: "didn't change much in MY eyes", not didn't change at all. Still one illness replacing another, newbaru is the case where it's actually different, that's the whole comparison.

Nejc Milavec

Interesting statements from the author regarding Reinhard's father and Felt (no spoilers): Fan: "Previously at an autograph session, you said that Felt is the second main character of Re:Zero. If you were to do a Re:Zero spin-off, is there any character besides Subaru that you'd want to set as the protagonist?") Tappei Nagatsuki (author): "It would be Heinkel Astrea.") Fan: "If you were to write a long-term spin-off work focusing on a Re:Zero character, whose story would you want to write?") Tappei Nagatsuki (author): "Heinkel Astrea, or Felt.")

Klinch

My theory on how Subaru's gonna solve this crisis: He has to dig deep on his knowledge of the constellation and put everyone in position so his team can win.

Quinn

as an anime only, I was confused and had so many guesses about roy being reid last episode but I overlooked the most obvious fact that reid is just him. I guess roy alphard wasnt really an alpha after all.

Mojito_

They’re talking about the description the guy made about cor leonis, even Subaru at this point dosent know its full capabilities so that guy did lightly spoil them

Tom

Why

Carlino McClain

I didn't spoil anything but I'll edit it out anyways in case the director is choosing to wait on revealing it. I will say that in the light novel all of this was explained in the loops and Subaru definitely knows about it's capabilities since he actively uses it, which is partially why he is so exhausted.

Mad4Life

I'm sorry but how are you 4 seasons into a show you hate? I can understand giving a show a fair chance for a season or 2 but if you're 4 seasons in and still consider yourself a rezero hater you're either just larping or have some outside issues to work out.

Some interesting astronomy/astrology things: something I love is how the translations of star names or maybe mythological origins have been either impactful or meaningful in figuring things out in the story or just give way to interesting design quirks (?). The name of the red supergiant star Betelgeuse comes from the Arabic phrase Yad al-Jawzāʾ, which translates to "the hand of al-Jawzāʾ" (al-Jawzā -> ancient Arabic constellation/figure representing Orion). This is what the Petelgeuse's unseen hands are referencing and what Subaru later recalls when fighting Regulus. The name Shaula comes from the Arabic word الشولاء (al-šawlā), which means "the raised [tail]". It comes from the Arabic linguistic root sh-w-l (ش-و-ل), which relates to lifting, hoisting, or raising something up. Historically, Arabic astronomers used this phrase to describe the star system at the tip of the Scorpius constellation because it marks the literal upturned stinger of the scorpion. Over time, Western astronomy adopted this term into Latin and English, shortening it to Shaula. Also, specifically Shaula is referred to as a three-star system, which means the three-pupil eyes and three pupil monster form is probably a reference to that. Regulus' Arabic name, Qalb al-Asad (قلب الأسد), means “the heart of the lion.” It is the star sat at the heart of the constellation Leo. The traditional name Rēgulus is Latin for 'prince' or 'little king', and this is how Subaru was able to formulate a plan to beat Regulus. Also, Regulus looks pretty noble in his attire compared to the others, at least to me, which makes sense considering: nobility.. prince/king.. yeah, you get it. There are also other things that are interesting as well: Betelgeuse, which is what I called him a lot because of an issue with translation in season 1, is actually supposed to be Petelgeuse. The character's name is a misspelling of the star Betelgeuse. I've heard some people theorize that this is because Geuse wasn't a very good fit for his witch factor. Or how about how Regulus and Petelgeuse are both named after single stars whereas Shaula is a three-star system? Maybe this is because she isn't an archbishop or it's all just a red herring, who knows? There are a lot of details like this that Tappei puts in that make re zero such a nice re-read/re-watch. Also, it kind of makes it feel like reading dark souls item descriptions to piece together lore which some people probably hate but I absolutely adore.

squarewunder

why wouldnt you try to change your own mind by reading and watching a show you dont like? my friend didint like re zero until season 4, ive watched many series and movies that i didint think id like just to see if it gets better and so i could better talk about why i dislike them

RCG

Yeah, literally thought "he did a Toji” after he said it.

Mite

yeah so Emilia’s “Ice Brand Arts” was a fighting style and name that Subaru came up with for Emilia over the year time skip prior Emilia was a pure caster who would sometimes get into melee but Subaru noticed she had insane physical abilities and had helped her develop this fighting style of disposable ice weapons which was based on his love of “Fate Stay Nights” “Sword Brand Arts” “Ice Brand Arts” In D&D terms Emilia would be a sourcerer but instead of her magic being based on charisma, it would be based off of constitution. she’d have a high Str, Dex, Con but a low Chr, Int, Wis she is a warrior mage
