In the anime, he doesn't as much aura as the light novel illustration. But I think it's way more fitting, he look skinnier and dirtier. But I just have to show you the panel because you can imagine what people felt when watching this. I head next episode will focus on only 1 chapiter. Which would be incredible, letting the last 2 episodes for the thing.

About Cliff's eye: It displays information about anything he sees, but only information Kishirika herself knows (which is a lot, but still). It's also presented as you would expect if she was telling you that information. Like "A mage with disgusting mana." for Rudy. Or "Yup, that's a monster." if he sees a monster she doesn't recognize. As long as Nanahoshi keeps drinking the Sokas Tea she won't suffer the side-effects of her illness. And yes, they are now growing it on Chaos Breaker. The ring in Rudeus' Demon Eye is usually black, it turns golden when he activates it.

Love your reactions ❤️

23:00 YESS!! Actually the LN is written by a fictional character called Jean RF Magott (the real author Rifujin na Magonote's Alter-Ego), who compiled all of Rudeus's diaries and documents and decrypted them from Japanese to the Human Tongue, calling it "Biography of Rudeus Greyrat". Every volume in the LN starts with a quote from Jean.

Kindyh Bordat

I love of they are so media literate. It feel so good to have intellectual people react.

DemoniCross

26:30 Rudeus here asks Man-God how that could happen: He said that a merchant that Rudy saved (skipped in the anime) has sold something to another strong adventurer. If he sells this thing then the adventurer never meets Geese, who was selling cheap maps of the labyrinth hoping to get more parties to join in clearing this dungeon. If Rudy never went, then the merchant dies and the adventurer meets Geese. Geese sells him the map, and this adventurer and others meet Paul somewhere along the line and they clear the labyrinth together. I forgot all the details but that's the gist of it. Man-God said it would have taken 2 more years for the rescue.

Regarding what you saw about architecture, post-WW2 architecture was pragmatic not only because we needed to rebuild (even if that's 70% of the reason), but also because it was perceived at the time that the concept of beauty itself is arbitrary and learned (which is not entirely true). So rehashing what was already done in the past was a big no no. But actually, humans as a species are biased toward certain forms of beauty, universally, in all cultures. Beauty remains partly subjective of course, but only partly: the other part is that most humans have a relatively similar sense of beauty overall. Even if there are always exceptions to the rule. Anyway, this view is gradually changing. Even if I think architects will always have something against doing things that were already done is the past, they want to leave their mark, to innovate. Which is also understandable, even if yes beautiful modern stuff seems a rarity to me, personally.

Irongrove

OH MAN! The prologue is finally done! All the characters have assembled! Next episode we can finally start the actually main quest!

Aquos Rocketleague & Stuff

is it just me, or wasnt the guy claiming to be from the future talking in the same Voice as rudy does in his head. made it pretty obvious, i wont google, because i dont want any spoilers, but im pretty sure.

The first two turning points really do give people a bad idea of what a turning point is. People get the idea that a turning point is a major event unto itself. In reality, they're moments that change the direction of the story because of how characters react to them. There is more to Turning Points than this, but trying to keep my explanation out of spoiler territory. Turning Point 1 sent Rudy to the Demon Continent and set him on a life of adventure, rather than being a tutor. Turning Point 2 made Eris afraid for Rudy and realize how weak she was. Without it, she likely never would have separated from him. Turning Point 3 was Rudy receiving the letter asking for his help in saving Zenith. His decision to go changed the course of the story in a big way, but it was his reaction to the turning point that did so, not the turning point itself.

ByakkoByakuya

Rather than a singular grand event, Turning Point 4 is a long sequence of events comprised of multiple sub-chapters. You could consider the entirety of this upcoming arc as "Turning Point 4". Buckle up, guys; the story peaks here.

Marko Genter

Ah the basement mystery ATTACK ON TITAN IS BACK BABY!

A.G

This is all assuming he was telling the truth. Which I think he wasn't

Irongrove

Luckily this basement mystery will be resolved next week not years later! :D

In visual novels and video games, turning points are situations where the player makes a choice; however, in literature, they are moments that change the direction of the plot. I think of it like this, If JRR Tolkien would have had the fellowship get along and stay together to the end, it would have been a lame story. Instead he has them get separated from Gandalf, and then Frodo and Sam ditch everyone and go off on their own... I like the way these turning points are done in MT better as they seem more committed than say in Re:Zero where Subaru's save points act as multiple choice turning points.

Brnden

Great reactions! You guys will love these last few episodes, many answers and many more questions await

Brnden

Yes they share the same voice actor, Tomokazu Sugita is a legend in the industry. He's in quite a few shows they're reacting to atm and my personal favorite role of his is Sakata Gintoki from Gintama

Holy Arathi

I don’t think Ariel has been “bad” in general with Perugius. But…. Everything she says does have this underlining push towards her own political machinations. She’s not being rude but she is trying to brown nose to get him in her side.

Area Vanquisher I

I am not going to timestamp it but there's a specific thing said in the discussion that made me laugh really hard. For those who know, you know.

Oasis

Yes I said this exactly last week!

Oasis

YES! I've been waiting all week for your reactions. Definitely the best l've seen for this episode and the series as a whole! It’s so nice seeing super smart people engage with the story, and not just criticise some of the questionable things without considering the good parts. A lot of your theories were spot on (some weren’t though). I'm not going to give any context this episode and let the next episode give you the answers. But just know that Turning Point 4 is by far the biggest Turning Point in the trajectory of Rudy's life. Quick question to ponder: has Rudeus actually changed since the beginning of the series in terms of his character and moral values? Just something to think about

Oasis

Just a few comments on the stuff before the Turning Point. There was a slight mistranslation - Cliff now possesses the Demon Eye of Identification which now allows him to identify anything that Kishirika knows about. Since he can’t control his mana as well as Rudy, he most likely will need to cover it up with an eyepatch as he can’t turn it off and on like Rudy. Like Ghislaine. Battle Aura was explained way earlier in the novels. Almost everyone has it except for Rudeus. It’s what allows swordsmen and physical fighters to be physically strong and do crazy things. It’s also why Rudeus damaging Orsted is so significant, because he was able to get past Orsted’s insane Battle Aura. In terms of power, Perugius and Atoferatofe are roughly on the same power but Atofe is stronger. Not significantly though. Orsted is on another level. With the Man God saying that Rudy can now harm Orsted with his spells that ignore Battle Aura, technically that would put him at around Orsted’s level. Technically. But it’s a lot more complicated than that due to experience, techniques, knowledge etc. Gaunis Freean Asura is indeed Ariel’s ancestor, and was the one of the Kings of Asura during the Laplace War (which lasted around 100 years).

The Anime Dude

It’s much easier to appreciate how much of an impact Turning Points had on the story & Rudeus’ life in hindsight than in the moment, but they have such a way of putting you on edge! Can’t wait for next week!

XDrakeX

Rudy also didnt give the right answer in regard of what a true king is but he gave a better answer than Ariel :)

Zachary Fewins

If you know the LN then you know he was lying about portions of it. Other portions iirc we don’t ever get confirmed whether he was lying.

Fear

Which I really like tbh each turning point is different and hard to predict unless you reading the material ahead.

Browncoat Loki

You aren't ready for next week. Heck I've read all the books and I'm not ready for next week.

Zak

40:40 regarding why there likely wouldn’t be a unending time travel loop. 1. Since we know man god presumably also have some future sight ability and didn’t saw this coming we can assume this is the first time this happened 2. Since man god now knows Rudy could possibly learn how to time travel if leave alone in the future, he would do everything to stop him from reaching that point and learning time travel, so it is unlikely for current Rudy to walk that path again.

Mateo Egey

If Man God knows future and fate yet presents Rudy with choices, and clearly has some agenda, that would imply that whatever happens is as Man God wills it, just that he might not be able to take direct action.. So Man God would know what Rudy will do, and he will probably know how to phrase things so Rudy does his bidding unknowingly. I guess it depends on the sphere of observation..

Xan

Prologue is over, welcome to the main story, BUCKLE UP.

Xan

Stephanie said something interesting about why old rudy said "It failed". Edit: removed the rest because anime only fans think every contextual info that was skipped is a spoiler.

Jack Witt

I hate that the Man-God gave the explanation on aura in this episode. It was supposed to be Badi in S2. They even animated the scene in question in S2 but cut the dialogue which implied, to me at least, that the scene still happened as it did in the novels. The Man-God giving the info comes off as the staff covering their asses but it doesn't make sense since for him to be the one to do it and just comes of clunky.

RCG

The last part sounds like a spoiler to me :)

Xan

Yeah it can sound like a spoiler to the anime/manga only fans. This will most likely be skipped in the anime like everything else. The anime has ruthlessly cut deep worldbuilding and side content leading up to Volume 15. Important details were completely skipped, like the construction of the Hand of Zaliff using the hydra scale, the tragic backstory of Vierra and Shierra, and the complete context of Eris's training at the Sword Sanctum in Volume 14. The anime entirely cut Gal Farion declaring Eris a 'Master' because he has nothing left to teach her, his proposal for her to duel Ghislaine for the title of Sword Emperor, and the option to challenge him for Sword God afterward. Even the setup for her gifted weapon, which Gal promises her in Volume 14 was bypassed (we are now in volume 15 if you are wondering), alongside Kishirika’s critical interaction with Cliff, which was reduced to a two-second background easter egg. With the anime adapting three volumes a cour, they are bound to skip even more crucial lore as the pacing aggressively fast-forwards. From your comment I am guessing you haven't read the LN It's really good would highly recommend!

Billbob

I dont remember if Hitogami explained battle aura in the novel here too, iirc Badigadi explained it to him during their downtime last season and he remarked how Rudy was a bit odd for having absolutely no battle aura and so he should give up on his physical training. But its cool that they gave an explanation for how non-casters are really just self-buffers with their own magic system which is how people like Paul could cut a boulder in half with a wooden sword. Also glad Steph immediately picked up on the "both beast princesses" line as implying he wouldnt end up with Roxy. Hitogami did say before that he would have regrets either way, but the guy tried framing it all positively here and sidestepped that detail So glad TP4 is here though and it's really only just begun, going to be in for a wild ride so hopefully the studio nails it

Billbob

But wasnt that just best case scenario of the options he was hoping for? From what I recall he says its a failure after checking himself because there was some pretty bad gaps in his spell as we will find out soon enough

Billbob

K so I did remember that correctly then. Been a while since I've read the novels but yeah it was kinda weird for him to be the one to bring that up especially considering his weirdly limited vision to put it in a non spoiler way. Badi really drew the short straw with how little he showed up, but I guess 6 arms complicates season 2's shoestring budget

RCG

Yes, I’m anime only but I don’t get your logic. You’re throwing that information out because it could be skipped in the next episode, when we’ll hopefully get more information about the whole situation, because other stuff has been skipped in the past? I mean, you can’t make a 1 to 1 adaptation. Stuff is bound to be skipped; that’s just how it is. Why not add it as a fun fact/side info later on, when you’re certain that it actually got skipped, instead of potentially spoiling it for non novel readers.

anon

Yeah his hair looks a lot fuzzier in the anime, which is worse, the bones in his face make it look a lot narrower too (though both have hollowed out faces) and he has a Muslim chin strap instead of a full beard. I hate it. I wish they drew him cooler in the next few episodes but they definitely didn't.

TPB TPB

This isnt what the turning points are at all. This comment is a spoiler blocker for the next one so warning for it.

TPB TPB

Turning Point Spoiler They are about the battle between the protagonist and antagonist and are moments one of them gets an upper hand.

DocGreen

Bro stop spoiling please. I've read the novels too. This season in particular has moved pieces of info around different from the novels so they aren't skipped they are just moved. It's an adaption meaning it's not doing a one to one like every book turned to movie or tv show. Season 1 has the most skipped content for most anime ln adaptations because studios don't know it they'll get a season 2. Vierra shierra were skipped because while a great little side story are nowhere near essential characters. Why do you so many LN readers feel the need to ruin future scenes because you don't like how the anime adapted certain things?

DocGreen

Most LN readers just like to ruin potential future scenes for everyone because they don't like that stuff gets skipped or moved around. They can't be happy with the anime adaptation so they have to make others unhappy

DocGreen

Battle aura is something that was skipped in earlier seasons. Basically is what you saw when dead end was fighting that snake with Eris and reujurd. Paul was able to cut stone with a wooden sword due to battle aura. Rudy was never able to move past intermediate tier swordsman due to not having one and atofes is one of the strongest in the verse. It's also why badi challenged Rudy because he was able to hurt the dragon god and you need to be king tier in magic or swordsmen ship to even be able to hurt badi with his battle aura. He classified Rudy's stone cannon as emperor tier

Xan

DocGreen I am waiting for you to give me more than three examples where they moved content to later stages (battle aura doesn't count). Also im sure you would consider Vierra and Shierra backstory a spoiler too.

Xan

Seems like a previous comment I made was removed. Ill rephrase DocGreen you are lying about having read the LN you are an anime only watcher, you can not name more than three instances of content getting moved around, this is why I really dislike most anime fans because they think anything they have not seen themselves in the anime is automatically a spoiler because if they don't know about it makes them feel smaller and they default to calling for "spoiler" since they want the creators to experience the story the same way they did during the anime. Oldeus saying "it failed" thats it that is all we are getting, that was the easter egg and we wont be getting anything more as to why he said that other then a few small pieces of background info. And me calling this out in the next episode when a lot of other things will need to have happen will lessen the whole impact of my original comment. This is like arguing with a toddler "potential future scenes" that will never happen 💀💀lol. Not talking about you RCG I think your thought process was very reasonable and I understand where you are coming from, I would rather not wait for something I know has been skipped as me waiting for the next episode would lessen its impact and Stephanie pretty much was spot on with the easter egg of "it failed". FYI: I have edited my comment and if they do end up explaining his statement "it failed" by adopting 1 chapter for the whole of next episode then I will be more careful from now on but mate you have no idea just how much they have skipped.

DocGreen

You pretty much made my point with your last sentence. And yes the battle aura does count I'm not going by what you think counts or not. Everyone thought they would skip the Eris pov/training arc they didn't. In fact they added stuff or changed things. People thought they skipped cliff getting the mystic eye they didn't. The gal farion seen you mentioned could easily be shown in an end credits scene like the Sarah episode. People also thought they would skip Suzanne they didn't. They only thing they didn't mention was her miscarriage. This season unlike previous seasons has done a fantastic job of trying to squeeze in everything they can. Vierra and shierra is additional info not spoilers because we may never see those characters again and they were not essential to the plot even though their story was really good. Same thing with the dessert clan and battle god language even though that was a fan favorite chapter. Don't go accuse others of not reading the LN because I've read both wn and LN and know the changes. Even a lot of Taiwan exclusive chapters. You spoiled something that could literally be explained the first 5 minutes next episode

Bobby Vang

The magic reference does work. There's counterspell yes, but there's also ward on a creature that counters the spell targeting the spell unless the opponent fulfil the ward requirements (like pay 2 mana). There's also interactions that give your creature hexproof, preventing the spell's target from being legal. I understood the mtg reference y'all were making.

Xan

Seems like you couldn't name three specific parts that were explained or revealed later than intended. Eris's arc spans multiple volumes and it would make sense if people didn't say anything until they were sure it was past a certain volume, Gal Farion scene can not be shown later since it only contextually makes sense in that moment where he made the offer for sword emperor or sword god they would have to change a lot for that, there are no major changes in terms of the main story so far. The thing that really gets me about you is if I mentioned Suzanne's miscariage to Wes and Steph even after the Sarah episode you would still cry out and say "Thats a spoiler what are you doing" this kind of outlook is shortsighted. I will put my money where my mouth is, if Rudy saying "It failed" is explained in the next episode I will send an additional $30 to Wes and Steph (through Youtube or Patreon). If it is not reveled then I would expect you to send that $30 to Wes and Steph. I will be back here next week once the next episode is released, to see if you can follow through. Also I am still not buying you having read the WN and LN so here is something AI can never answer/assist you with. Surely someone who read the LN, WN and even went as far as reading Taiwan exclusive chapters can answer the following. Question: What did Rudy think about the way Nanahoshi called Almanfi the radiant when she called him and what did Rudy compare Perigius to in that moment?

DocGreen

You are just making assumptions me while I'm telling the truth about the actual adaptation it's made several changes. Eris getting the coat completely new. Battle aura is the biggest change they made. Rudy practing a condensed version of King tier water magic while fishing also a major change. I'm not making bets with someone who already proved to be disingenuous with what's a spoiler or not. If you actually think anybody saying Suzanne carriage was a spoiler you are being intellectually dishonest. I also don't care what you believe. I've read the light novel twice and redundancy once. Believe or not just because I read the source material and know about all the cut content doesn't mean I feel the need to spoil potential rearranged/cut content for others

Rostislav

In the world of anime, there are no ordinary basements—that's for sure 💀

Rostislav

It's precisely because we've read this that we're not ready for next week 😂 Wes and Steph still don't realize the scope of it all and how a whole bunch of other things are connected, starting with the first season.

Rostislav

That turning point was the most shocking for me, because I was literally in Rudy’s shoes—I’d constantly doubted the Man-God, but this time, just like Rudy, I believed him. Sure, he has his own motives, but he’s "helped" so many times... That said, my favorite turning point is the fifth one. I really love the two—you could call them—side story arcs that accompany it.

Tom

Oldeus is now here

Dragons like Bananas

Here is a before and after map form the dragon god vs Battle god fight

Azer S

I feel the problem is she doesn't really understand him. He likes art for art. She hear he likes art, and promise him a statue like he was a politician trying to increase his approval. She spent too much time with royalty obsessed with their social status to deal with someone who doesn't care.

Azer S

It can't be because he wanted to block them from meeting. Because the second Rudy directly close the door and tell him "don't go to the basement" At this point they already met. Which mean if Rudy goes, another problem will happen.

Xan

Just watched the episode Mr "I've read the LN" but wont even answer my questions from the LN. I will leave it up yo your integrity to send the $30 to Wes & Steph. Also it seems like my point was pretty much proven because they skipped so much even when they tried to do 1 chapter for 1 episode in episode 12, I seriously fail to see the harm in people giving extra information on the content that is being skipped. Why are some anime only watchers so adamant on having Wes & Steph experience the same anime only they observe? I'm pretty sure both anime only and LN readers can enjoy the story at the same time without butting heads. I already accepted that I jumped the gun a bit with my information but there is literally zero argument that can be made by anyone for skipped content that is now in the past. Again nothing here is referring to you RGC so don't take any offence.

Xan

Just rewriting an older comment: Stephanie you were spot on with what you said the spell was a failure because old Rudeus was trying to hijack young Rudeus's body.
