Truly the most clutch of my refreshes….

The Anime Dude

Can’t wait for S3 Cour 2 next year!

Mr. Simple

I don’t think Orsted is a bad guy.. like remember that he was going to leave them alone before Rudy started to ask sus questions and confirmed that he personally knows the man god. So he is just a future powerful ally in my opinion

Æsir

So, in LN how the conversations between Rudy and Man God go is that, Man God can read Rudy's thoughts, so Rudy doesn’t even speak and talks to him in mind and Man God replies in speech. Jn anime they altered it probably because it looks better, but basically Man God CAN here Rudy's thoughts and so he cannot hide his motives from him

King Rama

I don't think Eris necessarily accepted the romance part of the letter, she was just excited to stand with him against Orsted lol

Zak

Regarding the last episode, one thing I like how MT is how realistic the world feels. After Diary/ Old Rudy burned down the capital, other authors might have him take revenge on the nobles as well. Instead, Rudy just knew he doesn’t have the resources and power to do so, so he just ran back home and became a drunk.

Just Mav

looking forward for the 2nd cour.. wondering what will take Mushoku Tenseis spot in the mean time. Do we have any date yet for the 2nd cour? (aside from just "2027")

eyalmazuz

"Did man god see his thoughts?" The answer is apparently: Yes (not spoilers) Apparently, one thing that the author of the series mentioned on twitter for people who only watch the anime (I'm one as well so I wasn't aware of this, and I don't know anything about the what comes later). Is that Hitogami can read minds. Apparently in the books, their conversations are depicted as Rudy just *thinking internally* to himself and Hitogami replies to him or something. So Rudy couldn't be like "yeah yeah I'll kill Orsted" and not do it, cause Hitogami would know he laying by reading his mind.

Weaboo Trash

One thing that the anime left out is that in the LN it’s 100% confirmed during this conversation with the man god that he can read Rudy’s mind at all times. It might be shown in the next cour of S3 but it’s confirmed in the original story by this point. Also the 2nd cour is expected to release ~April but it’s not been confirmed yet

Taro

you two are the best !

Oasis

Reminder that Season 3 Part 2 (Cour 2) will come out in April 2027! This part is even better than this first part of this season, in my opinion. Personally, for me, I would rank Mushoku Tensei like this: Season 1 Part 2 > Season 3 Part 1 >= Season 1 Part 1 > Season 2 Part 2 >> Season 2 Part 1 Also, regarding the show, I feel like the character development is very subtle. There's never such a big moment of catharsis, like Thorfinn from Vinland Saga, but he does absolutely become a better person throughout the story. His relationship with his family now versus his past life is enormously different. His sexual nature has changed entirely.

mogeki

Not gonna lie, after watching this episode and its Hitogami encounter made me go back to his other encounters, and honestly, it feels like Hitogami isn't scared of Rudy's descendants, but one descendants in particular. Think back on each encounter and piece of advice Rudy received, and what the consequences of not following through would have been. What would have happened if Rudy did not go with Rujerd? What would have happened if he stayed with Eris and Rujerd that day at the port city on the Demon Continent? What if he had decided to go to help the quest to find his mom early instead of going to college? What if he never went to help at all? It's kinda got me spiraling, ngl.

Kindyh Bordat

There is a fan animation of what is going to happen next saison. And if the studio animate it as the same level, i think i could die happy. And you forgot Mushoku is realistic, the letter took time to travel to the sword sanctum and it will take time for her to reach him. As for your last question, saison 3 will be the best, next part plot is going to be amazing, but i think saison 2 would be my favorite with all the emotional moments, especially with the shut in episode.

The Anime Dude

Yea, though while I say “can’t wait” to show my excitement, I’m 100% willing to wait as long as it takes so long as it comes out to be a quality adaptation! =D

Ale

The blank wall is freaking me out lmao

Oasis

You asked why Rudy doesn't just ask the Man God why Orsted has beef with him. In Turning Point 2, after we meet Orsted for the first time, Rudy asks the Man God exactly that. The Man God replies, and I quote directly from the anime, "because he's the wicked Dragon God, and I'm good". That's all the understanding that both Rudy and we, the watchers, currently have.

XDrakeX

Here you have the full letter to Eris from the LN since the anime abridged it a lot. I like this one way more: Dear Miss Eris— It’s been quite some time, hasn’t it? This is Rudeus Greyrat. Somehow, it seems five years have passed since we went our separate ways. Do you still remember me? I certainly hope so. I know I haven’t forgotten you, or the time we spent in each other’s company. During our first night together, I swore to myself that I would stay with you forever. I fully intended to stand at your side for the rest of my days, supporting you through anything life sent your way. But when I woke up in the morning, I found myself alone in bed. You were already gone. Devastated by your disappearance, I sank into a deep depression. The next three years of my life were bitter, lonely ones. Nothing I did felt meaningful. I felt as if I was wandering through a heavy fog. Of course, I don’t blame you for any of this now. But I hope you can at least understand how miserable I was at the time. As for the reason I’m writing you this letter, well… let’s just say a certain someone recently mentioned you to me. Up until now, I was convinced that you’d abandoned me to travel the world on your own. But this individual claimed I had misunderstood your feelings completely—that you’d never stopped caring for me, or thinking of me. I have two wives now. Both of them pulled me out of my despair in moments when it might have crushed me. While I may have misinterpreted your actions, that didn’t make my pain any less real. And they were there for me when I needed them most. However, if it’s true that your heart remains unchanged—if you truly want to be reunited with me, and spend your life with me—I’m prepared to accept your feelings. I have no intention of leaving my two existing wives, so you would become my third. I understand you might find this proposal unacceptable, or perhaps even infuriating. If so, you have every right to punch me to your heart’s content. I’d appreciate it if you let me off with two or three good swings, though. Of course, my hope is that it won’t come to that. Even if you’re not willing to join my family, I hope we can at least become good friends. Sincerely, Rudeus Greyrat. P.S. As I write these words, I’m preparing to fight the Dragon God Orsted to the death. I have no idea if I can win. It’s possible I won’t even be alive by the time this letter reaches you. But if I do make it back alive, let’s talk things out.

ByakkoByakuya

Oldeus mentioned that the five Dragon Treasures required to enter the World of Naught would appear decades after his death, so it would be pointless to go after Hitogami since he would be long dead by then. Among Rudy's love interests, there's only one who could truly produce offspring with a naturally long lifespan. It isn't Eris, since she's purely human, and there's a low chance that it's Sylphie, since her Elven blood is extremely diluted. She'd live longer than a normal human, but there's no guarantee that her children with Rudy would inherit the same longevity. So that leaves only one person who has been the target of the Man-God from the very beginning.

wyggles

About ManGod reading Rudeus' thoughts: Unfortunately the anime doesn't make this clear but yes he can. So basically he can see the future and any time that changes, on top of being able to actively read his mind. He's screwed. The next cour will be some time next year.

CD Elio

2027 is one hell of an anime lineup

DemoniCross

THE WALL IS GONE! MY IMMERSION!! Did you guys move or something? :D

Tom

This is so hype cant weit for the second core

XDrakeX

Since you asked Eris is 2 years older than Rudy and Sylphie. She is 20, Rudy and Sylphie are 18. But she is also pretty tall for a girl. And yeah the aging up in this show is so well done. We saw all of them as little kids in the beginning. Rudy, Sylphie, Eris and now they are all adults and it felt so natural. Also other characters like Norn, Aisha and Lucy. You can always see the passage of time. Also I dont think its so much as her accepting the letter but when She heard about Orsted everything got pushed in the back. Orsted was she reason she left Rudy to train for the last 5 years. When she heard that he was going to fight him thats obviously where she has to be too.

ByakkoByakuya

Sylphie isn't opposed to polygamy, but she has very strict boundaries regarding it. This is apparent here, as there are certain people she wouldn't accept, including Nanahoshi and Ariel. Both Roxy and Sylphie actually know about Eris. However, Sylphie only knows that Eris broke Rudy's heart, so she has an extremely negative view of her. Part of this may be because Rudy didn't talk much about Eris due to his trauma, but another factor is that Paul forbade Sylphie and Rudy from exchanging letters while he was still tutoring her. Roxy, on the other hand, was constantly exchanging letters with Rudy, so she had a different perspective on Eris. She also spent time with people like Paul, Geese, and Lilia, who had their own perspectives on the Boreas girl as well. So while Sylphie's view of Eris is negative, Roxy was willing to give her a chance and steered the conversation in that direction.

Zachary Fewins

I figured he probably did kill a bunch of the important people and strong fighters in the capital. I always saw it as he didn’t really give a crap. Also, burning down the capital is probably more than enough to completely destabilize the government even if no nobles died there.

BoomPax

My personal ranking so far is Season 1 Season 3 Season 2 however with knowledge on what will happen next cour I believe S3 will easily be my #1!

Sharrpfangs

Where’s rezero? The finale is out

Ryne

Just to clarify, you can't really hide things from the Man-God. We hear Rudeus talk in their meetings and vice versa in the anime, but in the novels, it's made clear that it's more of a mental conversation. Hard to hide stuff from someone who can see directly into your mind every time you talk. He can only read thoughts during those conversations though, not just whenever he wants. This is something the author forgot anime only fans were unaware of until this season. He talked a bit about it on social media in the last month.

Klinch

Man, what a great season, easily my favorite so far. This or Re-zero is my Anime of the Year.

ByakkoByakuya

Eris' mindset is pretty masculine. Of the three, she's the least likely to willingly share Rudy with anyone else. If she had her way, she'd monopolize him entirely. However, she's also nobility. She grew up idolizing Grandpa Sauros, who himself had multiple wives. So, despite her dislike of the idea, she might be able to convince herself to accept polygamy to some extent, since having multiple wives is generally considered the norm among nobility.

Fabien

I'm with you for season 1, the story developped in such unexpected ways that it's also one of my favorites with season 3. Also, I'm usually opposed to hype something that is to come too much, because it's better to avoid expecting too much, but here I'll do an exception: you should really look forward to cour 2. It will be sick, at least it was sick in the novel.

Fabien

He can also easily influence other people (the "blessing" he talked about last ep). So you'd have to consider everyone your potential enemy.

ReCursed

Isolde (girl with closed eyes) is believer of Milis church wich preaches monogamy - reason why she was so disgusted (Also Zenith to is in Milis church). Also I must say in this setup there is definitely drop in sound quality.. I'm not complaining just acknowledging.

Zaixven

What I love the most here in he letter of Oldeus not wanted to take over the mind of his younger self is so crazy if you think about. When he was reincarnated into this new body he brought every habit, trauma and pain with him and I think he doesn't want to do that to his younger self but he also likely knows he could never just act like nothing happened and would be robbing the past family of a much better person/version of himself without that insane trauma.

XDrakeX

Everyone who attacks a kid with deadly force out of nowhere is not a good person in my book

Mr. Simple

fair point, but looking at what man god is and what he does it’s hard to blame Orsted beyond the forgiveness. Even Rudy’s children will work with him it seems like, and he also brought back Rudy to life after he killed him. And he helped and may i say saved Nanahoshi when she just dropped in this world with no knowledge of the language and life there.

Dragons like Bananas

It's easy to forget Eris is Grayrat so she would have grown up thinking having multiple wives is the normal. Similar to how Sylphie growing up seeing Paul and later the other nobles , after she's teleported, caused her to expect Rudy to have multiple wives. Or even how Zenith always suspected Paul would cheat one day because we'll.. he's a Grayrat, that's how he was raised.

blood_drac

lucy looking more and more like mini elinalise

Dragons like Bananas

Honestly if he's telling the truth about Rudy's descendents man-god might have the worst luck. The person he needs to stop from having children just so happens to be born a Grayrat , the family notorious for sleeping around even as kids , to the point its a mystery how there isn't more of them around. As a example Luke's Father was 10 when Luke was born . And not only was he born a Grayrat, but he just happens to be born into the bloodline that's birth the greatest talents the family has seen. Paul , Rudy and Aisha are all geniuses in there respective fields/ skills. Rudy only improving it with who he's marrying. Depending how far into the future there talking, there might be a whole small army of extremely powerful people fighting man-god 😅

DocGreen

A couple things. The letter Rudy sent he payed big bucks to have it sent as quickly as possible. So it might have gotten there with in a couple of weeks if not sooner. Also the talk with nanahoshi in the LN happened before the last scene so cour 2 will probably start with it and will probably break your guys minds. Also in the LN mangod admitted to trying kill Rudy many times during his time with dead end. That time where he threatened to flood that demon city was probably one of them because if Rudy did that he wouldve alerted atofe and got them all imprisoned or killed

Rostislav

It's funny how Steph started thinking about the logistics of hugging three wives, it's actually an important topic 🤔

Zak

Billbob

IMO season 1 is still a favorite just because I am a sucker for adventure world building and it covers Rudy adapting to this world and learning its magic system and general cultural differences as he travels for years. The LN especially does a good job at showing the trio grow together and see how they handle hitting the brick wall that is Orsted round 1. This season got decently close with just how well it built on the world's characters that we have come to know in s2 but at this stopping point its hard to say considering its still at a build-up section really. After next cour its definitely gonna be a lot harder to choose, loved the next volumes a lot when I read it

Zen

@XDrakeX Such a surface-level perspective.

kinetic98

I remember after oldeus appeared in the light novel I just couldn't stop reading after this. I was lying in my bed 24 hours just non stop reading barely eating

Alex5AVA6E

Guys are you still planning to watch Demon slayer infinity castle????

Mateo Egey

I liked the PS scene of the letter. My read isn't that she was excited about killing Orsted per se. I think it was a bid of connection compared to the stiff and distant writing of the letter. Eris' main driver for going away was the confrontation with Orsted if I recall correctly, and that's her motivation for training. Rudy's PS is an unspoken invitation to reconnect properly, in an emotional way, not the descriptive part of the letter. It showed Eris they still belong together, perhaps even includes a silent "I love you"

IzVito

This version of the letter is so much better, no wonder Eris accepted it so quickly. It's a shame the anime couldn't capture the same feeling as the light novel.

blood_drac

I'm gonna suggest watching the Chinese anime Release That Witch that came out earlier this year. Only 8 episodes because production got cut off but they will be continuing to animate probably next year. It's based on a Chinese light novel that I think is quite good. Vibes are very similar to Mushoku Tensei for me personally. The animation made me read the light novel and I enjoyed it.

Holy Arathi

Lighting and background looks super different!!

reignyoma

I personally believe that the reason eris had that sad look... was exactly because she has Rudeus on a pedestal and she realized from his letter... that he isn't all of that... he was actually hurt and vulnerable because of her. So... after Isolte read the part about him going to challenge Orsted, she got fired up again cuz thats her chance to prove herself and make her apology to him (the only way she knows how to do it) and reclaim her spot next to him. That's just a thought i had, i don't know if its actually a thing.

Sheamus

Funny that Eris couldn't understand the letter Rudy sent her, small revenge after all this time. Though her besties helped her understand, too bad Rudy was alone with her letter. And her reply was basically "you had me at Orsted"

Aaron Wright

Top tier discussions as always you two. I think alterate time-line Eris also struggled to reconcile the man she loved and had worked so much for with this monster who basically killed 100,000s of her country men, women and children, and then does all this extra effort. Like breaking ties with him would invalidate her entire life's arc, but she also probably feels the need to punish him for his crimes due to the sense of true justice Ruijerd instilled in her. So she's stuck yo-yoinh for a decade or two with Oldeous unable to let him go but also unable to just chill with him. Glad main-timeline Eris gets a better shot. Also, Eris wasn't sold on that letter but "I'm going to fight the Dragon God Orstead" is probably the most romantic thing she's ever heard and she was like "get my horse! My man needs me!"

Aaron Wright

I think fighting against Orstead is probably the most romantic thing IN that letter to Eris. Youre right in she was meh on it till he said that, and I think that instantly won her heart, lol

Aaron Wright

Id definitely agree he's...complicated I think

Wes And Steph

We were on a trip but couldn’t miss the finale!

Fabien

Where does the "100,000s people" including children come from though ? I've read the web novel I've seen nothing that specific. Is it just a difference with the physical light novel ? In the webnovel, it's only written: "I couldn't bear it any longer and burnt Sylphy and the rest. I burnt everyone that got in my way as well. This country should just disappear."

Westerschwelle

But we don't know whether or not he can also hear Rudy's thoughts over distance or if he can only do it while in that white void I think.

Y Ka

The parallel with Stein Gate and Re:Zero was awesome, and scary... The story of his future self was so interesting and sad. And the way he said to current Rudy "don't antagonize Man God", makes me think that Man God can't read mind. He surely is not that omnipotent otherwise I don't think Rudy stand a chance against him. Anyway, I'm pumped for the next season! P.S. I am about to watch the 4th season of Re:Zero (that's about 38 episodes including you guys)

Y Ka

I was about to say that the first season was my favourite followed by this one because we followed more of Eris story and dived deeper in the obscure side of Rudy but who knows future season might be even better! Love you guys too!
