Everything Is Great! Parts 1 and 2

One question I had after last episode was it better that we strung you along and misled you or would it have been more interesting to see what conclusions you came to on your own? Not us spoil it but let you figure it out or not on your own? I'm proposing to my brothers we watch through the series together and post to my blog the discussions we have about it. One brother hadn't seen it, he was a philosophy and theology double major in college, my other brother a leader in his church and I as well. So I think we'd have very interesting discussions on those aspects. So the question I have is do I let my brother come to come to whatever conclusions he may, without any help or spoiling things or do I gaslight him if he starts questioning whether this is the good place or not? Again not spoil, definitely not spoil, but not view him figuring it out on his own as a bad thing either.

One of the writer room rules was "no torture too small" and they really turn that up to eleven in this episode, not least Pedro's formal wear. :D

I didn’t comment for a lot of season one because I didn’t want to even hint at any iota of a spoiler for the finale. So I just want to say that the discourse you two have after the episodes is amazing. It’s so great to hear the things you hit on that are both correct and incorrect because these are the thoughts all of us had while watching. And this episode is no exception. I’m so excited for episode 2 next week!

My father travelled all over the world, said that yak's milk (in Mongolia) was the worst thing he ever tasted. :D

I can't wait for next week now, so much fun ahead!

Just repeat what we did in Season 1? Nah, let's blow all that sh1t up in the first episode. :D

Their reaction to the final and discussion afterwards was the best, so good.

I feel pretty bad for Jason in this episode (and kind of retroactively, actually). He clearly has no idea what's going on in the beginning and ends up having to fake it more than all the other human characters. Him hugging Janet really got to me this go-round. He's so pleased someone was nice to him! Pna'g jnvg sbe arkg jrrx. Hawaiian Pizza is... okay. But you have to add jalapeno slices to counter the sweet.

D Gyre

Pineapple is awesome (for me personally, not objectively) on pizza as long you pair it with a sweet meat, which is why its usually ham. I actually prefer it with a sweet italian sausage. I was an adult before I ever heard of people not liking Hawaiian pizza and I was shocked by it. One of the best combos.

As you remarked in the final discussion, the writers are always ahead of us viewers -- they know we've watched TV before and have expectations of how it'll work. So, we imagined that Eleanor would confess as a season (or series) finale? No, she did it halfway through season 1. We think season 2 might be just like season 1, with us being in on the scheme? Nope, the second iteration is done in one episode. There's no predicting this series, and I love that. I also love how Vicky is presented as a parody of the self-important process-obsessed modern actor. It gets funnier each time we see her.

I like the misdirect. I think it was part of the reason our reaction was so strong in the finale. We love discussing how we were wrong after.

Youtalkingtome

Hey thanks so much guys! We're so excited that we were able to hop right back in and these episodes didn't disappoint!

Youtalkingtome

I can't wait either. This is becoming one of my all time favorite shows! Certainly the show I look forward to the most to watching, next to MM and WW.

Youtalkingtome

I can't wait to see more of Vicky. Her limp was killing me lmao. Brilliant writers and show runner. One of the writers just won an Oscar for his film American Fiction!

My Anglo-Italian friend is....animated....about his disdain for Hawaiian pizza, believes it belongs in The Bad Place. Naturally all the gang always buy him pineapple-themed gifts for his birthday ... 🤣

Now that you mention the writers, I just realized they are basically the Architects of the show. I can so imagine them having the same meetings as Michael had with the rest of the Bad Place staff, coming up with ideas, how they can 'torture' the viewers.... and writing themselves in the show!
