Hi Bob! Random thought, but Michael Dorman’s performance as Gordo in this episode makes me feel like he could be amazing as The Joker. That scene of him performing The Bob Newhart Show by himself is so wonderfully unsettling.

I think you are completely correct. This was a tough performance to pull off (he was really asked to do a lot here), and he was masterful. The subtle way he slipped into his breakdowns was fantastic.

Michael Dorman's performance is why you should add Patriot (Amazon Prime) to your list, jaw-droppingly good.

My dad and I both love this show, and have spent the last three years saying, “Hi, Bob,” to each other whenever we get on the phone to chat🙂. While I can’t say I have a favorite episode across the four seasons, this one certainly is a standout in a show with consistently fantastic storytelling.

This show continues to surprise me with how it can do really, really well with a great variety of material. It always seems to marry seriousness, humor, great characterization, and very detailed plots amazingly well! Similarly, the whole cast is impressive in their ability to meet these different moments. Hard to believe that a show like this can pass you by, even when it’s right in your wheelhouse — I guess that’s an element of the streaming culture I’m still adapting to!

Also Michael Dorman is an Australian and Joel kinnerman is Swedish so neither of them speak on their real accents. While we’re on it Molly Cobb is British (penny from lost, totally unrecognizable here) Ellen waverly is Canadian

Jodi Balfour (Ellen Waverly) is not Canadian - she is South African. She uses her natural accent in Ted Lasso.

That was a pretty accurate view of how the studios felt about the Betamax and the VHS player/recorder from the very beginning and they were even worried about of shifting the time when we watched what we recorded a show and we were "supposed to" delete any recordings that we made within a two week period! There is an early supreme court ruling all about this.
