"Chloramphenicol" - THE ENDING!!

Comments

Roland Cooke

What an ending, so well done. The Js explained at great length that Nina's execution was actually seen as (more or less) compassionate by the Soviet authorities, compared to spending decades on Death Row like happens in the USA.

In episode 3, Joe said Nina wasn't long for the show In episode 31, Joe said he'd love to see Nina stay for the run of the show In episode 43, they have slow burned this Nina storyline so well it is a shock when it happens on screen and Kevin "didn't see that coming". (I know - he meant "that quickly" or "right now", but juxtaposed against the previous thoughts I found it fun). There are certain moments in every show we all watch that we remember or think about whenever someone brings up the show. The Nina execution is one of those for me. But the "fun" part this time around was seeing the prediction in episode 3 and knowing they would have to wait 40 episodes for it to happen. :)

Shoutout to Annet Mahendru for her portrayal of Nina! Of note - she is an Afghan-American actress of Indian-Russian origin. She was born in Kabul to an Indian father and a Russian mother She's also a brown belt in karate.

This is the season where Keri Russell is pregnant not noticeable yet (but she was sitting behind the table in the scene in the kitchen - would be a terrible time to get Glanders... Originally airing on April 6, 2016, 'Chloramphenicol' is Episode 4 of Season 4 of The Americans. It is the 43rd episode overall and has an IMDB rating of 8.8, placing it as the #2 ranked episode of this season and #3 out of all the episodes shown so far.

Dylan Baker who plays the scientist/spy who got the Glanders vial will show up in another show you are watching.

It was truly shocking and really disturbed me. That's how you do a dramatic character death. It was really well done

“Reminds you they’re the bad guys” - I don’t really accept that. Ultimately she was a traitor and proved herself untrustworthy. Loved the character but from Soviet perspective, Nina had to go.
