A different sort of episode than we've had so far. David Chase has said that they threw every idea they had into Season 1, because they couldn't know if they'd get a 2nd. Seems odd to say it now! But HBO took a gamble on Oz and Sopranos, when dramas on cable were still rare.

It was a gamble that definitely paid off. Aside from a really strong run on AMC a decade ago, HBO has been the top tier of prestige television since this show aired.

Boca means “mouth” in Spanish. Mouth as in gossip, yes, but also mouth as in the part of your body you perform oral sex with. Mouth as in Artie mouthing off to Tony. Boca Raton means “mouse mouth,” pretty close to rat mouth, which is everything that every gangster on this show is worried about right now. David Chase could have chosen Fort Lauderdale or Palm Beach or Miami. He chose Boca Raton. The dude is just one of the best there ever was.

Livia may be a worse mother than Betty from Mad Men. Definitely on the shortlist with Cersei for worst TV mothers.
