IHOP would not have to agree for product placement to show up, that's a myth. Movies and TV shows can use and show all brands, they do not need permission at all, the reason they often use fake brands is because they don't want to use real brands without them paying for it. Because why give someone free advertisement if you can charge for it?

One of the most ingenious (and most unexpected) things the show did was to reveal the Good Place Committee as completely ineffectual (however well-intentioned), because they're so concerned with appearances, and absence of conflicts of interest, and being seen to follow procedure (not necessarily bad things in themselves...) that they never get anything done. Sort of like how committee work often is on earth. We've seen the faults of the bad guys; here are the shortcomings of the good guys.

One of D'Arcy Carden's most recent roles was in the Amazon "reboot" for the series A League of their Own. She's got a lot of stuff on IMDB, but nothing super notable.

The Good Place Committee is done so well, immediately revealing that literally not all is well in Paradise. We know that the passage of time is meaningless...but the immediate resignation of one of their members shows that the system is completely broken regardless of that resource. It reminds me (in a perverse way) of the "woke" shout-outs in the amazing Watchmen TV series by Damon Lindelof. In Episode 2 an in-universe TV show called "American Hero Story" is about to start and the list of content warnings before the show starts makes the current L V S D (etc) on HBO look completely tame in comparison). :D
