My interpretation of Phillip scene, on the first watch, was that even if she does genuinely like him she will still lie to him and work him. He does not want Paige and Matthew to be like him and Martha. He knows the damage it did to his mental health and as he said Paige has no idea.

So now you know what "getting PNG'd" means. 🙂

A cover of Leonard Cohen's "Who By Fire" is the theme music for the excellent Bad Sisters.

There were various spy expulsion tit-for-tats all through the Cold War and beyond, but the biggest by far was after the Salisbury Poisonings: > The British government accused Russia of attempted murder and announced a series of punitive measures against Russia, including the expulsion of diplomats. The UK's official assessment of the incident was supported by 28 other countries which responded similarly. Altogether, an unprecedented 153 Russian diplomats were expelled by the end of March 2018.[12] Russia denied the accusations, expelled foreign diplomats in retaliation for the expulsion of its own diplomats, and accused Britain of the poisoning.[13] < There was also a hefty round of expulsion after the Russians messed with the US elections: > On December 29, 2016, the U.S. government announced a series of punitive measures against Russia.[292][293] The Obama administration imposed sanctions on four top officials of the GRU and declared persona non grata 35 Russian diplomats suspected of spying; they were ordered to leave the country within 72 hours.[294][Note 2] On December 30, two waterfront compounds used as retreats by families of Russian embassy personnel were shut down on orders of the U.S. government, citing spying activities: one in Upper Brookville, New York, on Long Island, and the other in Centreville, Maryland, on the Eastern Shore.[293][296] Further sanctions against Russia were undertaken, both overt and covert.[220][297][298] A White House statement said that cyberwarfare by Russia was geared to undermine U.S. trust in democracy and impact the election.[299] President Obama said his decision was taken after previous warnings to Russia.[300] In mid-July 2017, the Russian foreign ministry said the U.S. was refusing to issue visas to Russian diplomats to allow Moscow to replace the expelled personnel and get its embassy back up to full strength.[301] <

I do agree with you that if you don't see someone die on screen they could come back....so along those lines...we didn't SEE Dylan Baker die on screen. :) Originally airing on June 8, 2016, 'Persona Non Grata' is Episode 13 of Season 4 of The Americans. It is the 52nd episode overall and has an IMDB rating of 8.3, placing it as the #6 ranked episode of this season and #17 out of all the episodes shown so far.
