This is such a HUGE blind spot genre for us that I had a friend make this list. I wanted 8, she gave us 9, and I didn't know which one to cut. (I have at least heard of all of them). Please vote for as many as you'd like, and keep making suggestions!

And why do so many popular Rom Coms have numbers in the title??

Peggy G

I'm glad this genre is a blind spot for y'all, because it's my favorite genre & I'm damn near an expert in it. I placed a few votes, but I'd be happy with every title listed on this poll!

Youtalkingtome

Yeah, this is one we really should do with some frequency; I can count the number of Rom Coms I have seen in my life on one hand!

HereBeMeghan

SO many good options for you here!

rycolaa

Some suggestions in this genre: 17 Again, You've got Mail, Wedding Crashers, Forgetting Sarah Marshall , Can't Hardly Wait, Blast from the Past, Serving Sara

Weird Magic

What we should do - is rewatch the Ted Lasso episode that had all the RomCom quotes and have one of those be the next one you watch :)

Youtalkingtome

Right? I got some of the more famous quotes, even from movies we hadn't seen (like the Jerry McGuire ones) from cultural zeitgeist. But I am curious about some I didn't get.

Actuarial Lurker

Never seen ANY of these 9 films either, so wil enjoy watching along

ruseka

Worth mentioning that the beats of Rom Coms post-90s are very very similar (still, a genre I love!) - and it'd be worth seeing some older movies; whether that's Broadcast News by James L Brooks, or as far back as 1930/40s screwballs (His Girl Friday!)

Youtalkingtome

Good suggestion! While you mention it, Some Like It Hot is a film I have always wanted to watch (I don't know if it qualifies as a Rom Com or not).

Actuarial Lurker

On a TANGENT- have you or Joe seen the French language- English sub-titled film "The Untouchables" about a rich french aristocrat who is disabled and his black immigrant health aide....it is a fantastic art film

ruseka

Almost used Some Like it Hot as an example -- like the 30s/40s films, I think it counts as a precursor

Cosmic Slice

Absolutely had to go with Sleepless and 27 on this poll...so excited for this category!

Liah

I cannot emphasize enough - what if you did all of them!! Such a fun genre. Also - for an older (but great) option - The Philadelphia Story with Katherine Hepburn, Jimmy Stewart, and Cary Grant.

Peggy G

Do you fellas have Letterboxd accounts? So we can look & see what you have/haven't seen?

The Inedible Mattman!

I always confuse "can't hardly wait" and "she's the one" ... even though the former is (in my opinion) the far superior film.

The Inedible Mattman!

Yes! "10 Things I Hate About You" is one of my favorite comedies (second to perhaps only Dodgeball, although that one isn't a rom com). I'll wait to say anything about that film until you watch it. There's some cool behind the scenes stuff that goes along with it.

Peggy G

Also, just want to throw my favorite lesser known Romcom out there so maybe it'll be thrown into the mix on a future poll. Defending Your Life. Written, Dritected by, & starring Albert Brooks. Co-starring Meryl Streep.

Heather

Yes! Rom coms!

Heather

If you find yourselves going down a rom com rabbit hole, I really liked The Big Sick. It’s based on Kumail Nanjiani’s real-life relationship with his wife.

Cristy

10 Things I hate About You yesssss! Would love to see some Heath Ledger content from you guys, he was so talented. Allison Janney is in it too haha.

Youtalkingtome

Honestly, we are so clueless on the genre, we probably should do multiple films from this list. Plus, the voting is so close!

Cole

Have you guys seen a women under the influence?

Cole

Gena Rowlands in this movie is the best acting I’ve ever seen. You guys should put it in a poll some time, idk if it would win but would be fun to see.

Cheryl S.

One thousand percent! This one is a classic; I wouldn’t even bother putting it in a poll, just watch it :)

Jonathan

Definitely a variety of Rom Coms on here. I would add Philadelphia Story for a classic Hollywood rom com. Sleepless in Seattle gets my vote it’s one of my favorite films.

Ari.g

ooo have yall seen 50 first dates? one of my favourite romcoms xx

Roland Cooke

I'm thinking we need two Polls for each of these lists: 1) I've seen it and I would love to see a reaction / watchalong. 2) I haven't seen it, but this is the one I'm most interested in. That would mean that you would (probably) get two films from each list, which isn't terrible!

Peggy G

Throwing out some titles for future RomCom polls, though I'd imagine y'all have seen one or two: When Harry Met Sally Long Shot The Family Man (save this for christmastime) Easy A Love, Simon About Time Going the Distance This is 40 This is Where I Leave You Crazy Rich Asians The American President (sorkin wrote it) Dave The First Wives Club

Peggy G

You could debate that it's a comedy with romantic elements. Kinda like The Replacements, which I LOVE

Madison Dickson

I would die to see you guys watch 10 things I hate about you it’s the pinnacle of 90s rom coms for me and Heath Ledger is just delightfully charming

Skinny_Obelix

My guilty pleasure is always 50 first dates, one of the Adam Sandler/Drew Barrymore movies.

Skinny_Obelix

Love About Time... The American President is also good, but it's so weird watching it when you've seen The West Wing.

Claire

There are so many I’m fond of but an Indie Rom-Com with a great cast is Lars and the Real Girl (2007). I think you guys would love it. Ryan Gosling, Emily Mortimer & Patricia Clarkson are the big names but really everyone is fantastic.

Cristy

Crazy Stupid Love with Steve Carell, Julianne Moore, Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone is a great one to add to your list for future movies.

Gill Dawe

I don't know if this isn't on this list because you've already seen it, but hands down the best RomCom in the history of movie making is When Harry Met Sally!!

Anna-Sophia McLaughlin

More drama than romcom, but as a Jane Austen fan, I highly recommend the 2005 version of "Pride and Prejudice" with Keira Knightley and Matthew McFayden! Also, "Sense and Sensibility" from 1995 with Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet is excellent!
