Alicia Witt portrayed Amy “D-girl" is a derogatory term in Hollywood for entry-level staff members in film production companies who lack influence. The term is short for "development girl" and is used to describe people who find story ideas to adapt into scripts and write coverage for scripts submitted to the company. The job title is gender neutral, and according to the Los Angeles Times, about a quarter of D-girls are men.

Amazing show that makes us feel sympathetic to mobsters. :)

I looked up Alicia Witt. I remember her from a few bad horror movies from the 90's (she was and is quite stunning). Amy taking D-Girl with such offense makes much more sense.

"Fuckin' Internet" is one of the funniest lines in the series.

I could never get into the A-plot of this episode. The AJ existentialism stuff, especially the writing, whole plot throughout the episode is A+++. Some of the funniest shit too.

Yes! I also love Tony to AJ, "The other choice is suffering, you wanna start now?" They made some good comedy out of the philosophical stuff, and with Meadow too, she has one tiny scene dropping a truth bomb, and gets sent to her room. :)

D-girl = development girl Basically just a subordinate in a production company. This hits her particularly hard because she has a bit of an ego u can tell by how she calls everyone a “friend”. Even referring to Robert De Niro as “Bob” like she knows him on a first name basis.

The Alicia Witt character is blatantly an homage to Faye Dunaway in Network. It’s funny, I don’t know that I would have noticed it if I hadn’t just watched that movie the other night. I won’t say how because I don’t want to spoil it in case you haven’t seen it, but it sort of puts that whole storyline into a different context.

> "Mezza fanook" is an Italian slang term that refers to someone who is homosexual or seems to be homosexual. It is a variant of the Italian term "fanook", which also has the variants "fenucca" and "finook". <
