- Yeah, this is definitely Jane Austen's Emma. There are several movie and TV versions of the novel, most notably the 1996 Gwyneth Paltrow version and the most recent Anya Taylor-Joy version, both of which are great. Clueless is also my favorite of the MANY "let's take a literary work and set it in high school" flicks of the 90s. - The ska band at the party is the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, who were having a moment in the mid-90s. - I love how Cher is ditzy but not dumb. Her Polonius moment is one of my favorite moments in the movie. - Bridgerton is smutty Jane Austen. :P - If the name Amy Heckerling sounds familiar, it might be that you know her very first feature film, Fast Times at Ridgmont High -- one of the definitive teen movies of the 80s.

Yes! That's how I know her! I thought this was a fun and unconventional way to tell a classic literary tale. Now I need to read it!

Really enjoyed that guys! Such a fun movie with some of the THE best and still memorable to this day lines ever. Such a great cast too, I don't think Paul Rudd has aged since looks wise. Love her dad too, such a great actor. Thanks so much for watching.

I loathe the Anya Taylor-Joy version of Emma. The screenplay is trash it gets 6.7 out of 10 on IMDB. The best version is a BBC production 4-part miniseries with Romola Garrai as Emma, 8.1 on IMDB. It’s available on Tubi, Peacock, and Amazon Prime.

Her Dad was actively pushing her and Josh together. Watch when Josh says he’s going to go to the college party to keep an eye on her, Mel gives him a little smirk as he walks away. And later when Cher says she likes this boy, but he’s this ‘good doer’ type and Mel is so supportive of her, she later comes through with all of the donations to the Pismo Beach relief fund and after she walks out, Mel turns to Josh and says “This is your doing?” indicating that he knew who the ‘good doer’ she had a crush on was all along. Daddy knew what kind of man he wanted for Cher, and was more attentive and involved in her life than he outwardly appeared to be.

The band is The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, a pretty famous Ska band from the 90s. So fun!

It was Brittany Murphy. And Elton was played by Jeremy Sisto who was part of Six Feet Under, a show with the most satisfying series finale.

Jeremy Sisto! Knew he looked familiar. I love Brittany Murphy, such an amazing talent we lost far too soon.
