"The show will change directions several times before it's over" - I absolutely love how positive you are about this, and I also love that you will not be disappointed ;) I cannot wait to see the rest of your reactions. And when you do them, I want you both to address the fact that we recommended this show just after you finished Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. I'd love to hear your thoughts on why we did that ;)

One of my favorite lines in the series is Janet saying to Vicki, "You know, itt almost feels more like torture when you discuss your acting process." They were able to sneak in the line about Foles breaking his clavicle right after it happened, just days before airing -- it's audio only and the characters are a mile away, so they could just splice it into the soundtrack.

Bad Janet disguised as our Janet is maybe the first plot twist in this show that didn't fully work for me. We hadn't previously seen bad Janets able to even pretend to be anything but *the worst*, and there was a decent amount of character development for Janet in the beginning of the season that is all undone. They obviously knew the reveal was coming from the beginning, but it still feels like they kept writing Janet as our Janet rather than bad Janet playing our Janet.

You could say the same about Michael in Season 1 though, no? He's written with all this anxiety and self-doubt as if he's an actual character who wants to do good, but it's in the end all just an act.

dys

Yes, but it's written so, so well in the first season. All of Michael's self-doubt? Makes exactly as much sense when we learn he's a demon who wanted to test this new project with a lot of personal consequences riding on it.

Maybe we can assume she's had an upgrade lol. It worked for me but I agree with the Micheal twist being stronger.

I can't believe we are almost finished with it. CXG took us forever and we enjoyed every second of that as well. This is just flying by!

Eleanor's response to Tahani sarcastically asking if she's Welsh, "Are you? I don't know. No, right?" is one of my favorite line deliveries in the show lol

tom

@dys But again, it's still an act. Like when he's acting anxious because of Eleanor "destroying" the neighborhood, that's part of the ploy. She isn't destroying anything, they made those things happen to torture her and make her feel guilty. Parts of his character gets repurposed later with him being anxious, ending up appreciating things about humans, crumbling under pressure, etc. but those were still fake the first time round

tom

For some reason I always remember this show for those random wide shots of the Lake House greenscreen when Elenaor and Tahani are having their talk

This show's ongoing continuity with Blake Bortles is so fun. It's a great aspect of this show's genre, the seriousness and the character arcs and philosophy is so meticulously planned out, but the humor side of things allows the writers to be on their feet by adapting modernisms (like when the Judge talks about all the weird stuff that's happened on earth after they altered the timeline) into the jokes
