I don’t know what order you watch your shows on Wednesdays, but you may want to consider watching The Good Place finale last. I think you’ll thank yourselves for choosing that order when it’s all said and done.🙂

Elizabeth Gates

When you said that you figured the finale wouldn't answer all your questions... It made me wonder if there are any it didn't answer for me. But I honestly think it covers all the major ones and most of the medium and minor ones.

Michael Manville

Can't wait until you watch the best finale I've ever seen. This has been a great ride, thank you for picking this show!

Taylor

I was thinking that also. I haven’t been able to come up with any I still have.

Taylor

Of all the finales I’ve watched you react to, this is the one that I’m most excited about. Truly one of the best finales of any show. And I second the suggestion to watch it last in your viewing for that day.

It occurs to me that if the afterlife had been operating properly all this time, people in the Good Place might not have gotten quite so bored. It makes me wonder if this was as big a problem before the 500 years of no one getting in. On the other hand, 500 years is probably not that long in an eternity. Oh god, I'm already getting emotional for the finale! D': Also, remember how Michael said that all the friends from Friends belonged in the Bad Place except for Phoebe? ;)

I was just about to make the same Phoebe connection. While I was looking for the quote, I found a compilation on YouTube of every Friends reference in The Good Place. And I had forgotten that when Michael was having his existential crisis about what was "wrong" with the neighborhood in Season 1, he told Eleanor that they were becoming Friends "like Ross and Phoebe". I think that was probably just a clever joke that snowballed into so much more, but if not, that's the callback of all callbacks.

so, the crying has begun. I don't know about you, guys, but I definitely got teary-eyed when Eleanor was describing what it means to be human and what their solution is. I cannot wait to see your reaction to the finale and, hopefully, you set aside a bit more time at the end for a discussion. I absolutely love Eleanor's version of the Good Place. to be able to go anywhere, real or imagined, and do anything, would be my dream Good Place for sure. I cannot even imagine getting bored of it. however, thinking about it logically, I know that I will, and probably quicker than I'd like. knowing that there is one more decision left for me to make would keep my mind sharp because I would want to make sure that I make that decision at the right time. it is the same with life, I think - we hope that life ends at a point where we are both ready for it, but we are not so far gone that we've been suffering needlessly for a long time. hoping for a good ending is part of being human... (I am getting teary-eyed again just typing this out. damn, that show is good!)

The Good Place aired its finale in January 2020, so it was pre-lockdown. When I thought about the final season late in 2020, it was hard to believe it had been that same year -- it seemed like a lifetime ago.

Also, remember that a Jeremy Bearimy is an unknown (but large) number of years -- it might be a century, or millennium, or who knows what.

Understandable -- but it was referring to reports of resistance to things like polio vaccine.

Funny, thanks to the awkwardness of the episode numbering/length, I did not realize before I watched this video that it was the last stop "before" the series finale reaction. Three days more of building excitement! But anyway. They really try, but I think this is where the writers fall short of imagining infinity. The excitement with which everyone greets the invention of DEATH is pretty weird to me. Yes, pleasures diminish with repetition, but the idea of like, stop being, forever, instead of trying to think of new things to do and make and places to go and people; most of all people to meet and get to know and watch Grave of the Fireflies with. That sounds to me like the kind ideas you come up with if you've never been really alone ever in your life.
