I've never seen any if these! I think maybe I saw FX2.

Cristy

I love 80s movies and I've never seen any of them either, lol. We need Adventures in Babysitting or Big Trouble in Little China or Lost Boys haha.

Cosmic Slice

What? No, Earth Girls Are Easy? 🙃

MrRuss50

I saw fx2 before I ever knew of fx. Never seen the rest of list as well

For the next Forgotten 80s poll, I nominate How I Got Into College (1989) Very few seem to recall this movie & I can damn near quote the whole thing. 😁

Peter

Night of the Comet is so good. One of my favorite zombie movies

Weird Magic

If you haven't seen it yet - throw Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (1988) on any poll that will fit (80's, comedy, Steve Martin, Michael Caine, Emperor guy from Star Wars etc).

Laura Room

I don't know which to vote for. Guess I'll look them up and pick whatever looks good.

Laura Room

I'm embarrassed to say I've never seen Lost Boys. Definitely would have picked it if it was in the list.

Several cool choices here. My Bodyguard was filmed at the Chicago High School that my father attended, and has good parts for his friend Dick Cusack and Dick's young daughter Joan. Dreamscape is a fun adventure about and within dreams. Night of the Comet is a very entertaining fantasy-comedy-unclassifiable flick. Ladyhawke is a terrific medieval-adventure-comedy film with Rutger Hauer, Michelle Pfeiffer, and the young Matthew Broderick (we can always just chuckle at the disco soundtrack).

Wargames should be on the list. Over forty years old and the storyline still holds up.

Oooooooo, tough choice between "Repo Man" and "Blood Simple", those are absolutely two of the best of the 80s!!! You guys are gonna KILL on both of those movies!! /// I saw "My Bodyguard" the night John Lennon was shot. Nothing more 80s than that! lol. Saw "My Bodyguard", went home, went to bed, woke up the next morning and got the call as I was getting ready for school. I've NEVER seen "My Bodyguard" since that night! And what's so weird: I remember everything about that movie, it's like that night is frozen in time or something. I'm getting goosebumps just writing about it! One month later Ronald Reagan took office. It was like.....fun's over, kids! Welcome to the new lame America! :P. (and that's what the best movies of the 80s reflect: movies like "Repo Man"!!!!)

Toc

Wow, Laura.....I can tell you Blood Simple (first Coen Brothers film) is one of the absolute best of the 80s.....and Repo Man (Alex Cox, following up "Sid And Nancy") is also one of the best of the decade....definitely one of the craziest!

Toc

Great poll, by the way. These really ARE "Forgotten 80s" flicks! Excellent curating !!!

Watched: Gorky Park Blood Simple Ladyhawke F/X - Murder By Illusion (pretty sure that was the full title, in the UK at least) Heard of, but not seen: Repo Man Dreamscape Night Of The Comet My Bodyguard Never even heard of: Savannah Smiles Road Games + I remember everyone raving about Blood Simple when it came out (or more accurately, came out on VHS rental). I remember not understanding or enjoying it the first time, but had a better experience with a rewatch a few years later. I think it was the first outing for the Coen Brothers, right? I have a win-some, lose-some relationship with their portfolio. 🙂 I really enjoyed the book Gorky Park, it was a viral hit back in the day. The film was meh, IIRC, and I don't know how well it will have aged. (Alternate recommendation: Red Heat, 1988 action comedy with Arnie as a Russian policeman sent to help out Jim Belishi's Chicago detective. Excellent romp. 🤩🤩🤩) I remember very much enjoying F/X, but with decades of improved effects, I don't know how impressive it will be in 2025. I remember hating the sequel... Ladyhawke I've not seen in forever, but I imagine it will be fine. I guess my vote has to go to Repo Man, but I'm interested in learning about the others.

Night of the Comet has such a big place in my heart because I used to work with someone with an important bit part in the movie.

If you guys do another 80s poll, you should put Throw Momma From the Train on it, assuming you haven't seen it. Classic Danny DeVito, Billy Crystal, and Anne Ramsey. Really fun movie

Kevin L

"I am from the 80s," said the cab driver explaining his choice of tunes, as the story goes... I too am from the 80s, but embarrassed to admit I've never seen a single one of these. 😅

I really wish there was a way to remaster Ladyhawke with a different soundtrack. Such a wonderful gem of a movie with a soundtrack that just doesn’t work, and has aged so poorly. Lovely acting by Michelle Pfeiffer, Rutger Hauer, and Matthew Broderick and my selection in this poll.
