Great episode. Fingers are surely going to be pointed at Paulie, obvious candidate for the killing of Ralphie... (And if Tony does nothing, that'll look bad too).

Michael Imperioli received an Emmy nomination for this season but lost to Joe Pantoliano, who plays Ralphie. (John Spencer and Bradley Whitford of "The West Wing" were also nominated.) Imperioli did win for the following season.

That is great! He has been so good this season, and it deserved some critical recognition. (I mean, all four of those guys. What a stacked year).

He may be the boss, but Tony killing a made guy is a very big deal... Even punching Ralphie a year ago (behind the Bing, after the guys discovered Tracee was dead) was against the rules, and Silvio counseled that Tony should apologize. "Make him disappear... or make nice. You only got two choices." One path was reluctantly chosen, and now after a year-long slow burn, we finally, explosively, reach the other. And only Christopher truly knows it.

Yeah, I feel like Ralphie's death, especially given his status as a captain and reputation for earning well for the bosses, will have consequences moving forward. I think, as much as I didn't like Ralphie, Tony really screwed up here.

Pie O My....the dynamic is that Ralph's head is in a bowling ball bag... that kitchen fight is like an overweight Jason Bourne

Real life mobster. Vinnie "The Chin" Gigante who headed the Genovese crime family from 1981-2005 was notorious for wandering around NYC in his bathrobe to allegedly feign dementia and Junior is a shoutout to Gigante

Reminds me of Irene in Better Call Saul and the Jimmy-induced "mean girls" shunning at the retirement home

Yes we have LOTR references in the Sopranos- gruesome

Tony did to Ralphie what the councilman did to Tony by sleeping with Ralphie ex-girlfriend. I think that was the breaking point for Ralphie and why he killed the horse. I think the insurance money was an incentive.

It is. I wonder if Ralphie would have been able to avoid it if he had just kept his cool a little better.

At least as portrayed in the entertainment media. I visited a Catholic nursing facility with our family Priest over 25 years ago and the residents were just parked in front of ....Matlock....with one orderly just watching to see if there were any issues. Not much different from the "latch key" kids in the 1970s who were stuck at home with a TV while their parents worked...

Therin lies the rub... Ralphie had no self control and that is why he killed Tracee the dancer from the Bada Bing, why Tourette's style he dissed Ginnie Sac and then "apologized" after Tony said not to....

On one hand Tony could have killed Ralphie after he killed Tracee at the Bada Bing which is what Pie O My represented in my view...and he had the restraint to stop. OR you could say that Tony should never have raised hands in EITHER scenario and screwed up TWICE and this time he didn't have his capos around to hold him back...when alone he just finished the job

Another parallel with Tracee and Pie-O-My, is Ralph's cold-blooded retorts... "It was a fuckin horse!" "She was a whooo-ahh!" Tony was so angry over the young girl's senseless death, so close in age to his daughter, and now the beautiful animal, he couldn't help but boil over with rage.

I agree. Thinking about it this week, I feel like the killing of the horse isn't specifically why he killed Ralphie, but it definitely triggered his reaction to Tracee's death.
