I never thought I'd ever be speaking up so much for Cersei because I also hate her, but remember that her daughter's life has been symbolically threatened (and at least in the old European monarchy, symbolism was NOT to be taken lightly, especially with "gifts"), and when her son died, Jaime raped her next to his corpse. She no longer owes Jaime any amount of respect. When it comes to the Tyrion stuff and the collateral damage she's willing to accept..... no, no defense at all, she's awful.

You were right (again lol) about the inspiration for Braavos. To put it in context, the Old Valyrian Freehold was kind of the Roman Empire of their world, and the Free Cities, like Braavos, Pentos and so on, were once part of that empire, just like the medieval Italian city-states of Venice, Florence and such. The one difference between Braavos and the others though, is that Braavos was not founded by Valyrians, but by their former slaves, which shows in the ethnic and religious diversity of the city. Also, it's true what others said, that the overall quality of the show starts to fluctuate around now, with some storylines being weaker than what we've come to expect, but there are still strokes of brilliance left, and in fact, both of my favorite episodes in the whole show are still to come - one in this season and one in season 6. So you've got that to look forward to !

I also kind of wish Brienne could be here for Jaime to tap into his quest — it would be nice to see more of them! Rewatching Jon’s election win, I was surprised he didn’t get to hit back against Ser Alliser. That fact that he got so many votes after not being able to answer those charges was surprising, but I think they had Sam lay out enough of a case for Jon that it’s still juuust believable.

Please don't beat yourself up about not keeping to the schedule. You and Kevin do an amazing job with such a large amount of great content, especially considering you both have actual lives outside of Patreon. I don't think Jon's election is surprising at all, for several reasons : - He saved everyone's bacon just days earlier and they all know it ; - This is a feudal world, where being the son, albeit illegitimate, of a high (and highly respected) Lord carries a lot of weight. All but one of the known Lord Commanders have been from the nobility ; - We've seen how Ser Alliser trains, and treats, the new recruits. He may be respected, but it's safe to assume he doesn't have many friends among the Watch.

So many new doors just opened in a single episode... Jon's Night's Watch Lord Commander era just started, Arya got in the House of Black and White with Jaqen "No One" H'ghar, Sansa refused Brienne, Jamie and Bronn are going on a mission in Dorne, and there's a bad moon rising in Meereen! Now let's see how all of that will unfold... hehehehe...

Wish we got to see a bit more of the backroom dealmaking Sam had to do in the book to get Jon elected. IIRC it had already deadlocked once or twice without Jon even on the ballot, so Sam went around to the guys in third and fourth place to convince them to throw their weight behind Jon as a dark horse candidate without even telling Jon.
