The actor who plays Alma’s father William Russ played the dad on Boy Meets World and like many of the character actors on this show worked with David Milch before. Peter Coyotes character General George Crook is a real person and in reality did lead his men to Deadwood after the so called Mud March and a “victory” against the Sioux at Silm Buttes. Earlier in the campaign he and his column had been stopped at the Battle of theRosebud or The Battle Where the Girl Saved Her Brother according to the Cheyenne by army led by Crazy Horse and is one of the causes that led to Custers defeat at the Little Big Horn.
