We're here! Probably the best season of The Wire!

Chris

This right here is a gunpowder activated, .27 caliber, full auto, no kickback, nail-throwing season of TV.

Paul T Hewes

The best season of the best show ever made.

Jonathan

The guy at the diner in the beginning is supposed to be Nancy Pelosi’s brother who was unfortunately mayor during the MLK assassination which led to riots the city never recovered from. They wanted him to cameo, but scheduling didn’t work so an actor filled in. The development Royce was doing the press event at was real and being built at this time. It got hit with a tornado Friday. Dialing for dollars is a real thing even in congress. There are cubicles like that in the capital and each politician is expected to log a certain amount of time there and $ quotas to get party support.

I think I prefer season 3 but season 4 is almost if not just as good, can't wait to watch it with you

The late Reg E. Cathy portrays Norman. Veteran character actor. He won a guest actor Emmy award for House of Cards.

Hooper

You may remember him from childhood if you ever watched Square One on PBS.

This one episode puts Lex in the pantheon of dumb Wire characters. - Murders one of Marlo's top lieutenants/corner chiefs right outside a club in front of several witnesses, over a woman who already broke up with him - Continues to work on his corner as if nothing has happened - Accepts a second-hand invititation to meet with said woman in a secluded location after dark (yeah I'm sure she wants to get back with the dude who shot her boyfriend in the head right in front of her) Just the kind of behaviour you expect from a guy using a broom on a street corner.

I love the West Wing, but as former campaign professional, there is no better portrayal of the drudgery and monotony of the campaign trail than in the Wire S4.

I believe that. Carcetti's frustration and his staff having to carry him along seems very grounded in reality.

Roland

Purely out of scientific interest, anybody recognize Carcetti's pin-up? 😜

Jeremy Hicks

Carcetti sure knows how to throw a tantrum. Imagine what he was like as a child.

Adam

There are a lot of things in the world that get overhyped, but Season 4 of The Wire ain't that. Welcome back to the roller coaster, boys. I'm sure you saw when you looked it up, but Reg Cathey who plays Carcetti's manager Norman died in 2018, he's one of my favorite "side" characters. Every scene he's in he gets a great line.
