Deadwood2 5

Comments

Deadwood is jam packed with excellent performances by the male leads and supporting actors so it can be easy to overlook how great the actresses are on this show. S2 is a particular tour de force for Molly Parker (Alma), Paula Malcolmson (Trixie), and Kim Dickens (Joanie). It is possible that I'm biased because the cute puppy in my profile pic is named Trixie after my most favorite Deadwood character.

This really was a great episode for the actresses to shine, especially Molly Parker and Paula Malcolmson.

The new racist character is named Steve. He's obviously extremely unpleasant but important to convey the overall atmosphere of the times I guess. Kevin will remember the actor from For All Mankind as the main newscaster.

Another banger of an episode. "You do not fuck the future, sir. The future fucks you." That line has really stuck with me over the years. -Timothy Olyphant did a great job in his scenes conveying emotions with his eyes and a clenched jaw. Especially his final scene with Al and the Doc. His mouth barely moved, but it was obvious he was bemused at "Cordial and pithy", and then when Al threatened him, and at the end where he said, in all honesty that he was with Al.

When Joe said about Steve, "This guy's awesome," I was like, "Oh, just you wait."

Also, btw, the *ahem* General's name is Samuel Fields, so that'll help you when you have to speak about him.
