"Richie's gonna Richie." Lol, if that isn't true. I guess nothing can be okay in that kitchen for long. The next three episodes are fire, I can't wait for your reactions.

The cinematography on the Bear may be the most beautiful on tv. Also Sugar's given name is Natalie.

Editing is not something I usually give much thought to but with this show you just can't ignore it. For me, Joanna Naugle and Adam Epstein, who edited this episode, are the MVPs of this amazing cast and crew. The way they use fast paced montages to create anxiety or show a character's thoughts, as they do here with Sydney, is so well done and some of the best examples of "editing as a storytelling device" that I have ever seen. Oliver Platt's character is named James Kalinowski. He is usually referred to as Uncle Jimmy or Cicero.

> In "The Bear" TV series, "matae" is used as a Japanese-influenced term, possibly a mispronunciation of "matte," which means "wait" in Japanese. In the show, it's used to express surrender or giving up, inspired by the martial arts world where "wait" can signal submission. <

I can relate to the dreaming about work, even though mines backwards from the norm I dream about having a wonderful workday where everything goes right and then I wake up to realize that none of it happened and I still have to go and face all of whatever mess I’m walking into. I love all of the Chicago shots in this. ER was one of my comfort shows, and all of the city footage is reminding me of that.

On rewatch it's really striking how much this seems visually inspired by the Three Colors trilogy. One could do worse. Even contemporary movies are rarely this pretty.

Another great episode! “Working dark to dark” – A long day, indeed! Although I kind of had to giggle a little bit at that. I'm not that far from Chicago, and for large chunks of the year, it starts to get dark around 3 or 4pm...so dark to dark isn’t always that long, lol. P.S. – Cake from scratch isn’t that much more difficult than a box mix. You just have to measure the dry ingredients yourself, that’s about it... It’s everything that goes with the cake (fillings, frostings, glazes, etc.) that gets complicated :)

Ritchie entering this episode by walking in saying "what is good you fuc*king replicants" is just... I don't know why it's so perfect, but it is.
