In all honesty I kind of wished it was Zoe and Charlie getting married instead given their love story began in the White House. I get that they're probably too young at this point but I would've been more invested in them than the fruit fly guy, lol. I did love that moment between Jed and Ellie before he walked her down the aisle though.

This weekend I was going down a rabbit hole of short-lived 80s series on YouTube and found The Stockard Channing Show a slapstick sitcom with her and Ron Silver (Bruno) as her boss. I can see why the show didn’t last, but it was still pretty fun knowing the actors.

You should watch the 30-second clip everyone is talking about if you can. It’s a nice tip of the hat (and kind of sad that Max didn’t include it).

I'm with the rest of the majority here. Yes, you should watch it (and our Patreon friend Pam Nail posted a private link on her YT channel https://youtu.be/Hye8Yjc9_HQ ) There's NO spoilers, it's real life, that's all.

Now in regards to this episode, bizarre that Ellie's sisters are nowhere to be found in the ceremony, or the episode altogether.

That was not an empire waist wedding gown. While it's a gorgeous dress, it always irked me a little - not sure why.

Since everyone is taking sides, I would say you should definitely watch the 30 second clip at the beginning of the next episode. Watch it on YouTube before you start the episode on HBO Max. It really adds weight to everything you see in the episode. I well up each time I watch this episode

Man, I love Leo's acting in that sudden realization scene, when he understands that they want him to be a VP candidate and campaign manager at the same time. The way his huge Leo grin fades... ROT13: Ohg gung "lbh nyy jnag gb xvyy zr" yvar uvgf erny uneq, gubhtu.

I read that the show was originally planning a Zoe/Charlie wedding, but there was a schedule issue for Elizabeth Moss and so they quickly had to swap the story around. You could tell they were planning it after Charlie's comment about asking her to marry him. Always made this a bittersweet episode, much as I like it, because it would have been more meaningful with those characters.

The cheesesteak thing is so hilariously fraught. Someone on South Street somewhere is probably still making fun of John Kerry. (But Whiz is tourist crap and I will die on that hill)

I (Kevin) do not like Cheese Whiz and would never eat it on a sandwich. I know they aren't "authentic," but I have had many cheesesteak sandwiches, usually with Swiss or Provolone. Maybe that's more of a Chicago Cheesesteak than a Philly, but that's definitely how I roll.

I posted with rot13 a few months ago about the next episode's beginning clip and wanting it included here - 100% agree that it should be watched. It's how we consumed The West Wing when it aired - it's how it should be consumed now. Originally airing on December 11, 2005, 'The Wedding' is Episode 9 of Season 7 of The West Wing. It is the 142nd episode overall and has an IMDB rating of 7.7, placing it as the #21 ranked episode of this season and #116 out of all the episodes shown so far.
