"Fuck your falling chips" is a top-tier Wire line.

On the dvd commentary, David Simon said the the kid actors learned a lot from the actress portraying Namond’s mother and the actor portraying Prop Joe during this season.

From Andre to Marlo to Omar and now to Officer Walker that diamond is well traveled. Wonder what the significance of that is?

Crazy this mayoral primary episode coming the day after our mayoral primary in NYC where an upset challenger beat an establishment figure... The outcome of our general will be less of a foregone conclusion though, since the incumbent mayor Adams is now running as an independent.

Something I’ve noticed on the rewatch is Randy’s desperation to stay in Ms. Anna’s house. He’s been in the foster system and knows how good he has it with her. So it’s kind of crummy that the vice principal keeps threatening him with I’m “telling your foster mom”. It’s heartbreaking. He doesn’t want to be back in the system. Snitching is worth it

I’m sure Randy didn’t know that what was going on in the bathroom wasn’t consensual. In the real world he wouldn’t have much to worry about because they have the other guys that did the rape and he’s too young to be charged with a crime anyway. I can’t remember what the show does about the timeline they’re playing with the election timeline anyway since normally the primary would take place in the summer for a general election in November, but with it being after school starts and it already being cold I think they’re playing that this primary is in October and Carcetti would get inaugurated in December normally. Namond having all these various jerseys is pretty typical for Baltimore since Baltimore doesn’t have an NBA team basketball fans wear whatever they are rooting for at the time. I have heard of the Harvard class a couple celebrity friends that went to Harvard messaged me at the time to get my insight on the papers they were writing.

My sister got the job that Kima was doing in this episode one year to be a face for the cameras outside of a precinct in her uniform, however she caused a little bit drama because she decided to tell the truth when the reporters were asking her her opinion of the incumbent mayor.

You mentioned Isaiah being on Veep, if you ever rewatch that show it’s fun to pick out the wire actors in various roles Veep was also filmed in Baltimore using a lot of the same behind-the-scenes people so they had the wire Rolodex of actors ready and waiting whenever they could use it.

Namond doesn't just wear basketball stuff, he's also in an Eagle and Raiders jersey, and Yankees and Mets kit. Nothing concrete, but that's how I read it symbolically.

The guy that gave the shiv to Omar in jail is called Donnie Andrews and he's one of the people that Omar's character was inspired from. He's a former armed robber who robbed dealers and was arrested by Ed Burns. Afterwards he turned his life around and became an anti-crime advocate.

I've always held it against Donnelly that she used that to blackmail him into snitching, knowing how dangerous such a reputation can be in that environment. I could kind of understand if she did it for the rape allegations, but for kids tagging walls? Gross.

I love Randy. He's a good hearted kid, but he's got a self preservation streak a mile wide and no street smarts to go with it.

I missed whether you have ever commented on the opening song for this 'school' season, and the fact that it's sung by kids? Because it gives me the shivers. The song for season 2 btw was the Tom Waits original - white guy, like the dockworkers.
