From an earlier scene we know that Ebra came from Somalia (or Ethiopia?), and I think we're supposed to infer that for Ebra uniforms equate to military, and military equates to atrocities....

I love that we are getting to see more of Ebra in this episode, he's wonderful. I agree, I love the scenes outside the restaurant.

I desperately want to see the outtakes of Richie and Fak arguing nose-to-nose. There HAD to have been some pretty hilarious takes. Also – Sydney’s story about serving ragu over rolls – I almost fell out of my chair listening to that. I did a similar thing the summer I was a cook because we ran short on pasta. It was a cafeteria/field kitchen sort of setup, so just saying ‘we’re out’ was never an option. But yeah, turns out, that was more popular than the actual spaghetti.

I'm sure that scene took plenty of takes (a sibling-level slamfest while close enough to kiss would be a hard scene to get through). And really, King's Hawaiian Rolls are great pretty much any way you serve them!

It's the first time we have seen much of him, and we get to see some real vulnerability (something this show does so well with every character).

Richie is definitely talking about Blade Runner. He calls people replicants & is thankful for Philip K. Dick (who was born in Chicago). Sydney's dad is played by the multi-talented actor, writer, & director Robert Townsend (who was also born in Chicago). I love hearing stories about how he made "Hollywood Shuffle" basically over 2 years, on weekends, without filming permits, financed by his credit cards. I am crazy about the soundtrack to this show. Not only is it full of songs I loved already but I have discovered lots of new favorites. There is an official playlist on Spotify but some songs, like Counting Crows' "Baby, I'm a Big Star Now" from this episode (& the end of the movie "Rounders"), aren't on there.

Richie's obsession with Blade Runner is so awesome lol. I don't believe I've seen a Robert Townsend movie but I love hearing stories about filmmakers being completely independent

I love how this show is calming down episode by episode as they start to find their groove.
