I think this is mislabeled. Should be Season 4 Episode 10(Misgivings)

Jonathan

The Deuce is another David Simon show, one of his rare flops. The actor who played Michael went on to star in the sequel series of Beverly Hills 90210. That didn’t have quite the acting requirements this did. The Wire was the favorite tv series of the creators of The Good Wife so they had an open door to actors from this that wanted to appear on that show, so you will see it in alot of actors credits after the wire.

Not to diminish Herc's failures of responsibility in the matter, but I think the show went out of its way to show the unlucky timing of Bubs' phone calls.

For sure. I hated that Bubs did that. Ironically, when Herc answered Bubs' fake call, he was ready to come running that time.

Honestly, Kevin earned what he got and I think Avon would have dealt with him the same way. Not only did he involve a random kid in the Lex setup, but HE ACTUALLY TOLD THE KID WHAT HAPPENED TO LEX AFTER!!!! He basically exposed Marlo's crew for no good reason, and it was pure dumb luck that he ran into an idiot like Herc instead of a reasonably competent investigator. The obvious lie about what he told Randy pretty much sealed the deal for him. Bodie's advice made sense in a vacuum, he just didn't know the extent of Kevin's tomfoolery.

The scene with Chris and Bug’s father is an all time great scene for me. Easily one of my favorites from the show. So meaningful, completely shifts how you feel about Chris.

Ed

YES HE DESERVED TO DIE AND I HOPE HE BURNS IN HELL!!

Never forget that almost everything that happens can ultimately be traced back to a Stained Glass Window. That shot of Bodi after Slim Charles rolls off is my favorite shot in the series. The brick wall with a “Royce for Mayor”sign on it taking up half the screen. The smart pawn and good soldier who made it all the way across the board and is now alone and getting boxed out.

Bunny laid out the whole thesis of this season in this episode: "They're not learning for our world, they're learning for theirs."

Ok, I was wrong in my comment on the last ep about how I thought you didn't see the full Michael picture. You obviously did, apologies! What I find so fascinating about the Kris character is that while Snoop is akin to a psychopath, Kris acts as if he is just a cog in a system he can't control, but will try to make his horrifically dirty job... more human and efficient. Like an 'animal-friendly' butcher. The further I get into this season, the more painful I find the kid's choir singing "keep 'em in the hole', especially after three seasons of adults singing it. God, what a show.

The inciting incidents: a union donating a stained glass window to a church, and one Jimmy McNulty caring when it ain't his turn to care.

It's fantastic. I have never seen a show progress like this. It's tragic, beautiful, and utterly captivating

the way characters on the street talk feels so real you truly forget this is a show, this exceptional writing makes this head and shoulders above any "crime" show I can think of, it has everything you mentioned and more, it's such a nice evolution from season 1 where you could think at the start it is just about one drug case in Baltimore, truly a legendary show worthy of top 3 of all time for me, I think about it often, and the heart of the show now also involving these kids I think makes every viewer's heart even more involved; when Body mentions Wallace from season 1 now of all seasons, man what a journey
