"That’s incredible, I don’t even know what it is." Lol. Same, Joe, same. I would eat everything on this show no questions asked.

MANGIA BABY. Could watch this one on a loop and never get sick of it.

I looked up the restaurant in Chicago it was filmed at and based on ("Ever"). If I could somehow get a table, I couldn't afford it at all anyway.

I love this episode! I put it up there with other great television episodes, The Suitcase from Mad Men, Ozymandias from Breaking Bad, The Constant from Lost, Long Term Parking from The Sopranos, The Rains of Castamere from Game of Thrones, to name a few.

I went on a mission during this episode because Richie having a White Squall poster in his apartment was too obscure and random not to have a reason. The production team did a Ridley Scott marathon to brainstorm filming techniques to use on the show and that is one of Ridley’s lesser known movies.

Sarah Ramos who played Jessica the front of house manager has been in a variety of good things over the years. I was introduced to her when she was very young on the early 2000s show American Dreams where Dick Clark recreated American Bandstand for a show about the 60s. It was a show just a few years too early. The premise is the same as Hairspray and it has the time capsule feel of Mad Men, unfortunately it didn’t get ratings to justify the cost and due to music will probably never see a streaming service.

She was really great! I don't know if they will have a reason to bring her back, but I would like to see it.

EVER is a real Chicago restaurant. It is located at 1340 W Fulton St. They closed for a week so this episode could be filmed there. However, it's story in the show was fictional. In reality it has 2 Michelin stars, wasn't opened until 2020, & obviously Olivia Coleman isn't the head chef. EVER's real head chef, Curtis Duffy, cooked all the food featured in this episode. Kudos to Joe for recognizing "Diamond Diary" by Tangerine Dream from Michael Mann's "Thief." The other instrumental music in this episode came from the movie score of "Waves" which was composed by Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross (aka Nine Inch Nails). There's a Billboard article about the easiest & hardest songs to clear for this season & an executive producer stated that "Love Story" was one of the easiest to get licensed. (I'm by no means a Swiftie but it's always nice to hear that she & her team are pleasant to work with.) I just love this episode especially the last few minutes with Chef Terry. I truly appreciate how it drives home the message "Every Second Counts" that's been present all season. And I'm really happy someone (or multiple sombodies) finally got through to Richie.

I’m so happy for Richie! Man, from a new low at the beginning to finding purpose – agreed, it’s perfection. And surprise Olivia Coleman – OMG! I don’t know where they shot the restaurant that Richie stages at, but it sure looks like Alinea, a real 3-star restaurant in Chicago. I’ve never been, but it was featured on Chef’s Table. And the cotton candy dissolving into hibiscus tea – they do things just like that. There’s one dish where they make a balloon out of spun sugar, filled with helium and everything so it floats, and they bring it to you on a string, just like a birthday party balloon. It’s brilliant mad-scientist-benevolent-trickster sort of stuff...and definitely on my bucket list. “I’m sure there’s a word in German...”-- Lol! Oh, absolutely. I don’t know what it is, but it has at least 14 letters. Also – I don’t know the movie Thief, but I definitely have to look it up now :)

I just went through Alinea's website. My god, that place looks amazing. It looks like this episode was filmed in Ever, a 2-star restaurant in Chicago. Likewise an amazing-looking restaurant.

Thank you for that information! The music fit the episode so well, and it was wonderful to hopefully see Ritchie turn over a new leaf. (Tiffany getting engaged might be a sign to him that's change is inevitable.)

This show can be pretty bleak so the real sense of joy and purpose this episode offers is such a lovely respite from that. I'm off to bump Taylor Swift and make some apple cider gastrique.

That's how you follow up one of the most stressful hours of television with one of the most cathartic episodes of television I have ever watched. Easily my favourite episode of the show.

Best Episode!
