I admit, I kind of giggled every time ya'll would say "Surely they are going to break up now....." since mid-season 2, knowing how long this storyline would drag out! I do feel sorry for Dean in this one. He knew for SO LONG that Rory liked Jess, but man he was determined to hang in there and hope everything was okay. Also, I found Jackson kind of annoying this one, but I never see anyone else mentioning that!

I think Rory, Jess, and Dean were all behaving badly to varying degrees here. Like you I don't have a problem with what Dean said to Rory, Jess, and Shane, or even the tone he said it in, but I do think he was wrong to air that in front of practically the entire town. And then I just agree with you on how Rory and Jess were acting like jerks.

An underrated Emily line..."and if you like, later on, you can make my asparagus talk". :)

I know we're supposed to dislike Taylor, but I never really disliked him. And I recently watched an interview with Sean Gunn (Kirk) and Scott Patterson (Luke), and they were singing the praises for Michael Winters, who plays Taylor. He is a highly accomplished stage actor, and very dedicated to this role as well.

I love Kirk so much.

I think Jackson and Sookie's plot gets lost in this episode so we don't really remember this in the end. Not so cool behaviour from Jackson (especially to tell "by the way, I'd like 4 in 4! Nobig deal, right?") but I get his little burst about the fact that, as far as he understood by the "lousy" way Sookie explained it to him, that this issue is kind of a private one and that this is none of other people's business. And it's true Sookie relies a lot on Lorelai's advice so basically eveything Lorelai says can influence Sookie's actions. But at least it ends well, they talk, he compromises.

Jackson's makes a reference to Winona Ryder's when he says that his life is not supposed to be debated in the public. I may be wrong, but at the time, I think Ryder's was at a low point when she was arrested for shoplifting in 2001, and her trial took place in 2003 and I remember it had been widely discussed. Even in France we knew all about it, she was in a bad place mentally or something.

Joe, I think it was your comment, after Luke and Lorelai finished their bit about having kids... "Ok, now get married!" lol! EXACTLY!!! ♥

Bravo Dean!!! poor kid, he didn't deserve to be treated like that.

My thoughts are as follows: FOUR KIDS IN FOUR YEARS IS CRAZY and Jackson was acting silly in my opinion. Like, Sukie can't ask Lorelai for advice anymore about her relationship? That's insane. It's not like they told the whole town. I'm glad he calmed down and they could talk about it. I think both Rory and Jess were being childish and inconsiderate to their respective partners, but I fear what happened was inevitable with the way Rory has been willfully denying her feelings and acting towards Jess. Plus Jess' proclivity for pissing people off on purpose. I think that Jess was clearly trying to bug her and I think he was also trying to prove a point (that she likes him, and she does) and it worked! Was it the best way to go about things? Probably not. But who knows how long this would have taken otherwise. The band aid's been ripped now. So yeah I agree that Dean's reaction was perfectly understandable and boy am I GLAD they finally broke up. I mean someone had to do it and it wasn't gonna be Rory.

The ep is very Maisel coded. Aside from the obvious period references, there was Sookie's comment about getting up early to just to brush her teeth that felt very much like Midge getting up to comb out her hair and put on makeup.

I'm really glad they ended things too. Band aid is definitely off and I can't wait to see where we go next.
