One of my favorite episodes!!! Danny is just the best. I wanted to ask a quick question… did you guys ever figure out if you were going to react to The Crown?

The ending scene with CJ & Toby might be one of the most romantic scenes in the history of television between two adults. Leaves me in tears every time.

“I want us to talk…because I like the sound of your voice.” Dozens of viewings later, and it never ceases to make me tear up. If someone ever said that to me I’d melt into the floor. And the chemistry between the two of them is just off the charts.

30 something was a great show with a great ensemble cast. Timothy Busfield also played a prosecutor in a made for tv movie called “Murder Between Friends,” based on a real murder that happened around the block from me when I was a kid. He was the only decent actor in that. I feel like Franklin Hollis also walked into the barbershop and said, “give me the Busfield.” I have, believe it or not, walked into a salon with pictures of Allison Janney as CJ and said, “I want sweepy bangs like this.” At the time this show filmed Timothy Busfield was married to the sister of Joshua Malina’s wife. Both couples split up, but they were for many years brothers in law.

Busfield got a bigger part from Sorkin in Studio 60 where he got to flex his comedic side a bit more and was really good.

- LOL "hiking the Appalachian Trail" -- remember when SC governor Mark Sandford went missing for like a week and the excuse was that he was "hiking the Appalachian Trail" and he was actually having an affair in Argentina? - I'm so glad we got one last big scene with CJ and Toby. I don't even want to think about what it was like to wrap that day. Richard Schiff basically got hosed this last season -- mostly, he contends, for money reasons. It's nice when we see the show actually give a damn about his character. - My God, that scene with CJ and Danny. Even just the few moments in the doorway when they're not even saying anything. Her face when he asks her if she wants to work at the White House KILLS ME. It seems like the first time in her LIFE that anyone has asked her what she actually wants. When Toby fetches her for the campaign, it was "Leo wants you to be Press Secretary." When Bartlet asks her to be COS, it was "I need you to jump off a cliff." That's been a huge theme of this show, the beauty of public service and sacrifice. But now that we're on the way out, I'm so happy CJ gets to have her own life. And as someone who just turned 50, "you didn't miss it" and "we're gonna get good at new things" is very important to me. :-)

I’m Team Danny, but this episode always makes me wonder about what was going on between CJ and Toby offscreen (this and the earlier episode where CJ asks if they can “get sloshed and forget we work together”).

"There's a typo in the Constitution." Best line in the episode. "Danny has great hair." Best line from you guys. I am SO happy we get a CJ centric episode before the end. When CJ says highways (with Hollis) I always think of the wolf only highway from the Big Block of Cheese Day. I’m in two minds re Presidential pardons but if it might be for Toby here I’d be okay, lol.

It's not a popular opinion, but I loved Studio 60. Since it's only one season, that would be a great next watch.

This is where we get the last straw that breaks the camel's back in regards to the cold open of this season... Of course Danny and C.J. will not have any issues, they have a kid in 3 years. Toby is NOT going to be in jail (But how could this happen? What are the possible ways for THAT to happen...), because he's in the opening scene. And Will says he's a junior congressman in Oregon (Kevin did remember this...) Geez! Could you give us more of the plot for this episode in advance? Sorry about my ranting about it, but it's one of the very few faux-pas that the production did, but it's quite the blunder IMO.

Timothy Busfield was great on "thirtysomething", winning an Emmy for his performance in the final season (after the show had been canceled). That final scene with CJ and Danny is so powerful in its writing and acting. Just to see someone show true interest, caring, compassion, understanding, and patience with his partner, and say, "I want us to talk because I like the sound of your voice," well, I fall apart every time. We all could use a Danny in our lives. Get the tissues ready for next week. It's been a fun three years, guys!
