I appreciate your noting the double-standard in Hollywood regarding celebrating male versus female actors. There is some additional nuance to the discussion, particularly around pregnancy, child-rearing, and the willingness of women to prioritize raising a family over pursuing a career. It’s really hard to work your way back into Hollywood after dropping out for a bit for any reason, and if there are strings attached to working with an actress, like needing in-set child care or extra flexibility to take kids to appointments, a lot of professionals don’t want to bother with that hassle when there are SO many moving parts to a production. In my opinion, it’s not just a lack of roles, but it’s also a reduction in A list celebrities agitating for parts for that age range. The fewer people blowing up people’s phones with inquiries, the more producers are complacent with the status quo. Of course, if you never were an A lister, you won’t have clout, and they’re not going to care how keen you are for a part.

This was such a great reaction, guys. One of my faves for sure.

It’s been a minute since I saw this, but I just recognized all of the landmarks in Sacramento. Like, they really filmed it all there!

Carl Wilson

Olivia Colman deserved her award completely - and she may be "30 years younger" than Glenn Close (27 years) but she was still in her mid-40s in The Favourite. It wasn't going to some ingenue.

Have you guys seen Frances Ha? It was directed by Baumbach but it was written by both of them and stars her, and it really feels more like her movie than his. It's a loose but very lovable film.

Frances Ha is a really fun movie and a great companion piece with Lady Bird.
