I never really stopped and thought about it until a couple of years ago, but how deranged is Scott to be interfering with an active police investigation into a fucking serial killer just to further his own career? We the viewers know it's all bullshit, but Scott doesn't. The guy is mentally ill. (Not to mention he's a terrible reporter who needs his stories served to him on a silver platter.)

My fan theory is that Levy purposefully tells herc about Marlo giving his phone number and mentioning a wire tap, thinking herc might have enough animosity towards marlo to do what he did

Oh Jimmy... In S3 as he prepared to go undercover at the brothel, Kima said "It takes a whore to catch a whore" ... Now as he susses out Scott across the Sun conference table, perhaps it takes one lying cheating bastard to recognize another!

The Freddie Gray case you guys mentioned had a weird parallel with tonight. The city states attorney who tried to get national prestige for prosecuting cops with that case (she was unsuccessful) eventually went to federal prison on fraud charges. When she was convicted she did a full court press very similar to Clay tonight to try and salvage her reputation. (She was unsuccessful with that too)

Eh, I would bet it just never occurred to Levy that Herc had any idea who Marlo was and therefore wouldn't worry about Herc having a motive to leak the info. Levy likes the money that comes from defense work when one of his clients do get in trouble with the law (or for defending a lower level soldier who "stands tall" in their place) but they pay him tons for all kinds of other work and I don't think he would actively betray them.

Right about here is where a lot of Wire fans starting losing it with the final season plot I think. Between Scott the liar, Jimmy the serial killer, and now Omar going "Superman", funny you say it like that you'll see why lol, this season obviously wasnt going to compare to the previous couple.

From someone who has re-watched The Wire a million times, one of the things I truly admire about this final season is what “story” actually makes it into the paper. And what page is the story on. 😉

One of the real life criminals Omar was based on jumped out of a 7th story window and survived. Simon decided to make it the 4th story instead so that it would be more believable.
