As we're nearing the end of GoT and this being a great Jamie episode, I want to share with you beautiful people my favorite reading from the books of a dream Jamie had, it's about the time where he lost his hand. And a video I always think about when I think of this character. Stuff like this is impossible to recreate on television but that channel has amazing readings of highlights from the books. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Erbr99-dVFs Out of all the ASOIAF characters in the books, I will always think about Jamie Lannister the most and what his fate would have been in the books if they were ever finished.

A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms is the title of an upcoming GoT spin-off series.

Florence Welch (of Florence And The Machine) sings the outro (Jenny Of Oldstones).

Not to be a bummer but I couldnt stand this episode including the Brienne knighting scene. It was a beautiful scene but while watching it I just wanted to scream “we have no time!!!” Brienne is not a top ten most important character, and to spend that much time on that with four episodes left meant you knew they were going to rush the hell out of the rest of the season. Ever since season five there’s just so much wheel spinning in this show. But yeah. Winter is coming AND Cersei is there, but we are gonna have a ceremony when all these characters still need proper character endings? Come on. If they wanted to do that they should have agreed to do ten episode seasons like we wanted.

This episode is so special to me and I loved experiencing all the emotions of it again through your reaction. A really spectacular "bardcore" cover of the song pod sings if you're interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-FjAISGyWQ

i oved that you responded to this episode so much. on first viewing i remember thing this was my favourite episode. they really captured the fear of a the long night before a battle.

In relation to the upcoming "dark" episode, I wonder if a key part of the problem is how much of today's audience (myself included too often) watches TV these days, phone on, background light and noise, the complete opposite of the pitch black soundproofed editing suite. If, where does the responsibility for a poor viewing experience lie?

They hit every emotional beat you want before shut hits the fan. Also Florence and the machine do a version of pods song and it’s beautifully haunting. I will tell you if you seek out the live performance. Wait until after next episode, she makes a dedication that is a major spoiler for the next episode.

I watched the episode on a 60" TV, pitch black in the room. It's STILL too dark to see all of the scenes. They really screwed it up. They know you can do "Day for Night" type of filming (and used it in other scenes in the past), but they really wanted to film it at night, for 3 months if I recall.

They were in waiting pattern at this point. All is prepped and done, it's just the enemy that's not there yet. They DID have time for this scene, IMO.

Here it is. The last good episode of Game of Thrones.
