I know you still have the movie to go but just a reminder about the one season of John from Cincinnati for more David Milch dialogue!

I love this show with my whole heart and I'm thrilled to have rewatched it with you both. Deadwood, for me, is a show about how we join with rivals and strangers to build community. My long standing theory (that no one else agrees with) is that Deadwood and Parks & Rec are the same show. Al is Ron Swanson and Bullock is Leslie Knope!

It also has some of the same actors, Garret Dillahunt, Jim Beaver(Ellsworth), Dayton Callie(Charlie Utter)

Thank you so much for your watch of this series. I saw it for the first time last year and the setting and sense of community stuck with me more than anything. The show felt real. So many characters have become favorites, particularly Al Swearengen and Doc Cochran. My only gripe with this season is how under-utilized Doc Cochran was. I was so worried they were going to kill him off, and though I'm glad he wasn't, he still didn't have much to do this season. Here's an excerpt from a special feature from the final season DVD where David Milch expressed his frustration and acceptance of the show ending abruptly. This is the best quality I could find. I believe he also said, at one point in this feature, that one of the storylines for the next season would have been the town catching on fire (which happened more than once in real life). I assume that's why there were so many scenes with Tom Nuttall wanting to get his fire wagon. https://youtu.be/XqMNypPke0g?si=bg0G-BCu6vXU8GgB

That could've been amazing. Imagine them pulling that off! Doc was definitely put on the back burner and surely we would have gotten some amazing stuff with him as well.
