This is the episode where you can go down the John Munch “Munchiverse” rabbit hole. Many series connected by the appearance of Richard Belzer’s(R.I.P.) character John Munch, the Law & Order franchise, Homicide, X-Files and Arrested Development.

This is the type of hoax that 20 years down the line would make an excellent HBO documentary.

Jonathan

John Munch on Homicide was a pseudonym for Jay Landsman, that’s why Jay was in the scene sitting next to the cop that was the inspiration for Clark Johnsons (Gus) character on Homicide.

Jonathan

This was the episode of cameos. The cops in the opening scene chasing down the phone call were all high ranking police who supported the show over the years. Clay Davis’s lawyer is a real Baltimore attorney playing himself. He would be the person Clay would go to in real life and one of the inspirations for Levy on the show.

Clay's attorney in this episode (Billy Murphy) is a real-life Baltimore attorney who represented the family of Freddie Gray.

Yes I always find it funny that the Bluths share a universe with Omar and McNulty.

100% Isiah Whitlock Jr. will always be Clay Davis to me. This role must have been so much fun for him as an actor.

Brian Harris

Probably my favorite ending of any Wire episode.
