You guys nailed it. The show is so beloved bc the world is just so rich and nuanced. Jackson coming to his senses while wearing his wrestling pajamas is chef's kiss. The writers never forget any of our history with the show. This is my favorite GG episode. As a recovering, Paris Type-A overachiever -- watching her nail this scene is so heartbreaking. Liza Weil is such a gifted actor! Paris Geller is as iconic in television history as Buffy or Archie Bunker now.

OMG Kirk. I love him. I have a t-shirt with "A film by Kirk". :)

Kevin, you're the only guy I know who can do a spot-on impression of an actor in a movie you can't stand. Bravo.

I don't know I gotta disagree with Paris, talking about Marxism always gets me going.

Lorelai's comment, "I got the good kid" can easily be misinterpreted, I think. Interesting that you saw it as her being understanding of Paris in that moment. I think the fact that she hasn't yet had sex also plays a role, but not in a black and white kind of way (like she's the good kid, and Paris the bad one), but more in the sense that Lorelai just has flashbacks about getting pregnant as a teenager and will always be extra worried about Rory in that sense. I have watched the show countless times, and love how there is still something new to discover each time. It's just so incredibly rich.

I don't like the Max/Lorelai thing coming back here, and I think it's a flaw in this episode and this season. You're right about the Christopher redux thing, and I also think Max is too smart and sensitive to go back to the woman who dumped him basically at the altar (and by kissing her in a classroom again, for god's sake). That's not just a minor breakup, it's a huge scarring event, and him just falling back into it feels like it betrays the character. One of the show's basic flaws is men continually being unable to resist the Gilmore girls because they are just so sparkly and wonderful, no matter what has happened. Realistically at *any high school, much less one like Chilton, it would be a huge scandal for a girl to get up bedraggled at an event and talk about having sex. Let alone on CSPAN! But I'm happy with the show letting Paris off the hook there, especially in the tail end of the school year. I thought both Lorelai and especially Rory dealt with it really well and compassionately, and it was hilarious that Richard slept through it.

Poor Paris, that crash out was so valid. My girl deserved that acceptance letter

I forgot how I loved this episode : finding out Sookie's pregnant and Jackson freaking out level 9999, Brad returning from Into The Woods, Paris & Rory reconciliiation bc Paris he's going through massive events, Richard taking Emily's place for once her being absent for entire episode and him being present... If it's too much sometimes, it's just Palladino's trademark : spectacular, absurd and borderline-uncomfortable

So which member from Tears for Fears do you like best ? :D

Paris was a shoe-in for Harvard until Joel Goodson's kid jumped in line. 😉

It is incredibly rich. I love that you understood it differently as well, now I have that perspective. God this show is so good
