Survivor is a legitimately good show. I'd say it's more a competition show than "reality" show.

On the topic of reality tv satire there used to be a show called Unreal that was about the producers of a Bachelor type show and all the crazy, unethical stuff they did behind the scenes to create drama for the show. It was a dramatisation but there studies about the harm caused to participants in reality tv shows. There have been a number of suicides of reality tv stars.

I hope you guys watch S2 and S3 as well, and not stop just at S1. The story telling is so good in this show and so important, especially seeing where we are today with the news industry.

I'm positive Hope Davis was never in the West Wing. Was she a guest star once ?

I really enjoyed this show, but the coldplay song and the heavy handed rewriting of how things were handled... -How the show handled Lisa, the roommate, was really crappy. She was a smart, nice woman who got kicked around by the will they/wont they of Jim/Maggie/Don.

None of these people should know anything about his personal life- ESPECIALLY if he is THAT high profile....

I thought I clicked on Beautiful Girls and was so confused trying to figure out what characters you were talking about! LOL

The rush for all the "news outlets" to break unverified stories will only get worse due to "sycophancy" and "engagement enhancements" built into LLM models. Especially if the AI is used s the "very smart assistant" that provides background and fact checking for breaking news stories AI is frequently trained on biased data, will tell you what you want to hear, lie to make up evidence to support it and then gaslight itself and "hallucinate" just to engage you. This goes to Jonathan's post about the engagement enragement of social media below. Per the second citation: "It aimed to please the user, not just as flattery, but also as validating doubts, fueling anger, urging impulsive actions, or reinforcing negative emotions in ways that were not intended. Beyond just being uncomfortable or unsettling, this kind of behavior can raise safety concerns—including around issues like mental health, emotional over-reliance, or risky behavior.” https://www.axios.com/2025/07/07/ai-sycophancy-chatbots-mental-health https://www.law.georgetown.edu/tech-institute/insights/tech-brief-ai-sycophancy-openai-2/

Another great episode! There's so much good stuff to come; I honestly don't remember if it's this season or next season but I'm excited for some storylines to develop that are slow simmering in the periphery. I really hope you do seasons 2 and 3 as well because even though this season hits it out of the park there's some really great throughlines in the series that are worth watching. I, too, am not a huge reality tv person, either, though I've watched a few episodes of Love Is Blind and I have, in fact, seen some episodes of the Real Husbands of Hollywood - the Kevin Hart one - and that one was actually really fun. But I completely agree that a lot of the rest of it is brain rot.

This is the episode that got me hooked on this series. And yes… Charlie is the best!!
