Can't wait to watch this later. Maybe a top 10 episode for me. Definitely top 20

Same! I was SO excited when I checked what episode today’s was!

I usually wait until Thursday morning to watch your Buffy reactions, but this is one of my faves, I'm gonna have to watch it before I go to bed! EDIT: I will NEVER get over the look on Joyce's face when she produces the handcuffs, it's the perfect combination of guilt and pride 🤣 And I love how the Mayor is literally always on the job. He's about to watch babies get eaten by a monster, but he's trying to fix the town's infrastructure. Gotta admire the commitment! Re Xander & Willow: the show is absolutely not on their side. They play the twinkly music to represent how the characters feel when they flirt with each other, but it's always interrupted by reality and they know that it's wrong.

I really like the Buffy funny episodes. The "Ethan's ones" are so good... and it is well made !.. The concept is great, a lot of ideas, and talented actors .Love it.

This is such a great episode. Giles and Joyce are so funny together! And Snyder is hilarious

This is the first. 'written by' credit for Jane Espenson, who went on to write some of the very best Buffy episodes as well as eventually becoming a co-executive producer. She's had a great career since Buffy too and is notably one of only four women(edit: TWO women, four episodes!) to ever write an episode of Game of Thrones (s01e06). Funny you guys call buffy underrated, a lot of people (not me) would say the opposite! Being as heavy with themes and metaphors as it is has made it one of the most over-analyzed shows of all time, I think, and there have been countless books written and college classes taught on Buffy.

Yeah, this is a fan favorite among the one-offs. Ethan episodes are always good fun. And it gives us Giles/Joyce, which I'm not ashamed to say I love.

This is one of my faves, and yes I ship Giles and Joyce.

That look between Giles & Joyce at the end after Buffy says "before anything actually happened" - something definitely happened.

I love that Armin Shimerman, who plays Principal Snyder, gets to utterly nerd out in this episode. Primarily, I adore Band Candy for the hilarious Giles and Joyce subplot, set off by Buffy‘s quest for some owed independence and freedom. But man, Armin is having the best time, possibly even more than he had when playing Quark on DS9. It’s just a joy, I laugh myself silly every re-watch! — Once you are done with this, I think you’d enjoy listening to the actor interviews (at minimum) of the podcast Buffering the Vampire Slayer. The first run of the podcast was spoiler free (they’re now doing a run with spoilers), but the actor interviews sometimes aren’t, and they are gold. Esp. the ones with Kristine Sutherland, Armin Shimerman and James Marsters - they are awesome.
