A star on the parachute wings badge indicates combat jumps. IIRC I think only one, maybe two guys, got 5 stars in WW2.

I forgot that Episode 5 continues Easy Company's exploits as part of the Market Garden operation, so I'll re-post the broader historical information about the campaign after that.

Michael Cudlitz does an amazing job playing Bull Randleman, especially given how little dialogue he has in this episode. The whole sequence in the barn was almost unbearable the first time I watched it. My nerves were strung tight enough to snap. Cobb is an asshole. Pure and simple. I loved how Bull gave him a smackdown after he shamed poor Miller about wearing the unit citation. The other "new" character is Webster, the "college boy" who is delighted to see a sign for Neunen because Vincent van Gogh lived there. You're right that Eion Bailey (although I love Saul Rudd as an alternate name) also played one of the hyena boys in Buffy. The scenes in Eindhoven are conflicting, given that we know this isn't the permanent liberation they thought they were seeing. I did love to see the boys enjoying hugs and kisses and free food. And this is a tidbit for next time you watch. The scene where Sgt. Talbert is sitting at a table making out with the woman who was about to have the world's worst haircut? The old man sitting at the same table and waving the little flag is a member of Easy Company. (No spoilers, though.) The haircut scene was brutal. The horrible truth is that for some of those women, sleeping with the Germans was the only way for them to survive. Next episode is directed by Tom Hanks!

Micheal Cudlitz crushed it in this episode! He conveyed so much with his face and so many times I was thinking to myself, "man that's a movie star."
