This movies was first conceived by Spielberg as an episode for the Amazing Stories TV series but he decided to expand the script into a movie - another nostalgic walk into my childhood - thanks lads

Hume Cronyn and Jessica Tandy were married in real life for 54 years until Tandy's death in 1994. They made over a dozen movies together. Together they received a Tony Award for lifetime achievement.

I’m 25 mins in and have to say Jessica and Hume relationship makes this film - absolutely brilliant!

I grew up with this movie. Great reaction.

Great reaction and commentary, as always. That the filmmakers slip in a very affecting side plot dealing with dementia/alzheimer’s into this family flick took me by surprise when I first saw it. Not to mention how well Cronyn and Tandy played it. Tandy in particular deserved more recognition for her heartbreaking portrayal, IMO. The director, Matthew Robins, had previously directed the well-reviewed (but sadly, little seen) 80’s fantasy flick Dragonslayer; hope y’all get to check that one out at some point. Glad you enjoyed the film! 😎

I like to think they come back to the building every year to have their babies. 😊

Michael Carmine (Carlos) died two years after the release of this film of AIDS. In his final role, he played an AIDS patient in the drama film Longtime Companion in 1989, same year of his death.

Seth Walker

Another childhood favorite. A little undercooked but bolstered by wonderful performances. You can definitely see the proto Brad Bird plots forming here.

If this was made in the '90s, I could 1000% see Whitford playing the part of Kovacs lol

This was a REAL illegal tactic in the 1970s and 1980s to chase out renters so older buildings like in "Only Murders" could go condo or torn down by developers. If people didn't move they would shut off the water, heat and electricity to make the places uninhabitable

Fun nostalgic one!

I haven't seen this is a really long time. I remember watching it on tv with my family when I was a kid and we all loved it. It was great getting to see this again!
