OMG, Season 4, Ep 20 on 4/20, while I enjoy God's natural medicine at 4:20 lol

One of my absolute favorite line readings in this entire series is “he’s sleeping. With the zucchini.”

Love this episode and CANNOT wait for next week! Liz's wedding episode falls on my 32nd wedding anniversary! I got married at age 19, hubby was 23, and we're 32 years married and 35 years together! My husband was just getting ready to go in the fire academy and was a full time EMT. I didn't stay home and do nothing. I was a hairdresser during the day, and an EMT at night! Lindsey should be working! Such an awesome episode for Luke!!! Love him so much! Great episode guys! You are really going to want to do a double episode next week for the season finale! Just trust me...

fire12wife

That's hysterical! Love it!

Did you notice TJ (Michael De Luise) brought his brother to the bachelor party. His brother was played by his actual brother, David De Luise!

Youtalkingtome

I absolutely did not clock the relation. That's fun!

fire12wife

I can neither confirm nor deny if he will be in any upcoming episodes having to do with Liz and TJ's hypothetical wedding! lol

Youtalkingtome

We won't be able to double up, unfortunately, but we are very excited to see how the season ends!

Tobias Keezy

Yeah, the dad from Wizards of Waverly Place. Plus, their other brother is the guy from 21 Jump Street. I didn't know Dom DeLuise had so many actor sons.

Being a stay-at-home wife when you have no kids seems completely pointless. Not to mention, Dean had to give up going to college to take extra shifts so that she could sit at home bored. Frankly, this whole Dean-Lindsay marriage thing is just ridiculous. I'm not sure if it's true, but someone mentioned in these comments that he stayed on Gilmore Girls because WB wanted to keep him around until they got him another show (eventually Supernatural). So, he got stuck with this remarkably stupid storyline that will only continue to get stupider just to clumsily generate more Rory melodrama. Heartbreak or not, I don't believe this guy is dumb enough to jump into a marriage so fast. And why the hell are the parents so enthusiastic about it? My daughter isn't an idiot, so she would never decide to get married to a high-school boyfriend after dating for four months, but if she ever did, I would go absolutely ballistic. I just don't buy it at all. This is just terrible writing.

I love this episode so much. In my mind Luke was using the tapes for longer - surprised to be reminded it's just one week. He's gotten to the place we've long been waiting for. Also love his interactions with Jess this week and the small but noticeable growth in maturity from Jess. But about the zucchini - it's silly, yes, but not ridiculous. Sookie can't just go get zucchini at the grocery store; she runs an inn that I'm sure markets itself as using seasonal produce directly from local suppliers. Plus it would probably violate the inn's exclusive contract with Jackson. Though what Jackson does for produce in the winter is a bit unclear to me - shouldn't he have a greenhouse or something? Thus making it unnecessary ever to sleep with the zucchini in changing seasons?

Youtalkingtome

Yeah, the inn probably does have a contract with Jackson. But yeah, why doesn't he have a greenhouse?

Youtalkingtome

Yeah, the "bad marriage" does seem a bit contrived. I'm surprised the WILD concept of Lindsey getting a job didn't come up during the fight when she was complaining about being home bored all day.

Tobias Keezy

You will find out why Jackson doesn’t have a greenhouse in a future episode

Lindsey Swift

I prefer to grow a lot of my own veggies and herbs, but I also buy a lot too! I understand the panic when a frost happens and the fear of heaters failing or catching something on fire is real, however, I've never slept outside to babysit them!! lol I love the "bit" though! Some of my family own greenhouses, but I don't yet!

This is such a beautiful ep! I always thought that Luke has a point when he goes to Jess and tries to convince him, but recently, my perspective has changed, in that Jess has of course a right to not want to come (his mom hasn't been great with him) and it's not necessarily true that he would regret it otherwise (and even if he did, it's still his decision), so Luke's "you owe me" might come from a good place, but isn't the healthiest way of communicating (guilt trip), ie, he pressures him and it's not called for. The Luke-Jess dynamic is one of my favorites of the show. And ultimately, I'm glad Jess wants to participate though.

Yasemin

Hey Kate, I agree, but didn't bring the double ep topic up here, because I tried it in the past and it looks like it's not doable because Joe and Kevin watch a ton of stuff and it doesn't seem feasible for them (fairs!), but I very much get where you're coming from and cannot wait for the next 2 eps! :)

David De Luise, dad from Wizards of Waverly Place, and one of the daughters is played by....Selena Gomez! Another connection!

i also think they are supposed to be the "best zucchinis" in a 300 miles area or smthg. Don't know if that kind of statements can be true^^ Doesn't matter, it's quirky and fun and the show is all about that.

Youtalkingtome

I think Jess would have walked his mom down the aisle if the approach was different. Him being there says so much

I would argue that neither Emily or Richard ever really accept blame or apologize for anything. In fact, if I had to point to one main difference between Lorelai and her parents, it's that although Lorelai makes a lot of mistakes, she is capable of recognizing those mistakes and trying to do better. Emily and Richard simply are not. Anyway, I love this episode. The Luke stuff is great but I also really enjoy the "sleeping with the zucchini" sidequest.

Jennifer H

The movie Lorelai & Rory are watching, Fatso, stars Dom DeLuise & you can see him for a brief moment when the TV is shown.

fire12wife

I never noticed that! That's awesome!!

Great Luke episode, very nice to get away from all the stuff that was awful over the last couple episodes. I think it's fine to have a bachelor party at TJ's age, it just shouldn't be in a strip club. My brother got married not much younger than Michael DeLuise would have been here, we had a bachelor party for him but it was just hanging out at his fiancee's parents' lake house boating and grilling steaks and drinking. With Michel not knowing how to spell "laundry" I think they're going for a little joke about a lot of English words that end in "y" having a French cognate ending in "ie" but that isn't the case for laundry, "laundrie" is not a French word. There is "laverie" for laundromat, I had some language trouble with my AirBnb hosts in Brussels when I was trying to ask where there was a good laundromat nearby; I knew enough French to ask that but not enough to explain, when they pointed out they had a washer, that it didn't help me when they didn't have a dryer and I was packing light and only had a few changes of clothes so needed to wash AND dry stuff that day.
