Ah, this season is so full of lovely twists and turns -- and you guys are killing it with the reactions. Most episodes have a reason why they could qualify as a "favorite"; with this one, it's the flashbacks to decades past, and then the gorgeous device of putting present-day people in old-time clothes. Love it.

That 70s party was so inspiring and the costumes were amazing. Charles and Jan's relationship just gives me the creeps! They have heat but it just feels like she's grooming him for something.

That whole card game sequence was fantastic! Flipping back and forth between eras/costumes/etc., kind of doing a play-within-a-play thing - just brilliant. And I agree, something about Alice’s story doesn’t ring true, so she’s still suspicious. Yes, super rough for Oliver to find out that Teddy is actually the dad. Although I agree, I think their relationship will be fine… It’s interesting though, this isn’t the first time that kind of thing has been brought up this season - Charles was suspecting his dad of having and affair and Bunny possibly being his sister. I don’t know if those two things are going to be related in any way, but it feels significant that affairs/paternity was brought up twice in the same season. Also - I’m pretty sure that’s the first time in the history of the world that the bassoon has been referred to as “feral” lol.

The party scene where the period costumes appear with the lights was absolutely wonderful.

I didn't make the connection that this is the second lead character this season with familial questions about paternity. Holy crap. And Jan has been an absolute delight in her limited time this season.

Youtalkingtome

Right? Jan screams "I'm in prison now, so I guess I'm relegated to murder cult leader."

Alice mentioned her studio is in Bushwick- that is kind of the current "artists' lofts" part of Brooklyn, bunch of former warehouses that turned into artist spaces after the artists all got priced out of neighboring Williamsburg. Williamsburg went through the same story about 20 years earlier, turning from industry/warehouses to artist spaces to now completely gentrified (and one of the most expensive areas of the city), and now Bushwick itself has been gentrifying over the last 10 years.

I love how far we've come with Oliver and Will's dynamic. In episode one, Oliver really came across as a deadbeat dad but by now we realise that those two could never let anything come between them, yet it's still devastating to learn that they may not be related.

Teddy just keeps getting worse. I have faith that Oliver and Will can dismiss the paternity test and easily accept they they are father and son.

You can't put up surveillance cameras or microphones in those service tunnels since that would likely break state or federal wiretapping laws...that's why in The Sopranos you saw them listen in for some time, pause and then start recording again- and that was law enforcement WITH a warrant...

That flashback to Son of Sam cards was kind of real Starting around 1982 there was a game whose name I won't mention where if you were a Senior in HS you were given a "target" and had to use water or paint ball devices (with a witness -this was before cell phones and apps) to eliminate your game target like Jason Bourne The last person standing got substantial cash...it got out of hand and was banned across NYC when kids were following targets onto the subways and passengers and cops thought they were witnessing real crimes and cops drew weapons and almost shot some teens playing the game...

A real card game from my HS in the late 70s early 80s was Nuclear War- where you collected population cards to build up your country and once "war" was declared you collected cards that would allow you to prosecute such an event Made sense during Reagan's first term https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_War_(card_game)

love the choice to have Oliver call his son and grandson "honey" and "baby", nontoxic masculinity! men can be baby!!

People are now moving back to the Upper East Side of Manhattan since the rents are cheaper East of Lexington Ave and the subway ride WITHIN Manhattan is 10 minutes to midtown and 20 minutes to Wall St area while subway rides from Brooklyn are 10 minutes longer to go with higher rents

Pausing mid episode. Not sure if the card game is real, but it reminds me a bit of the Werewolf game.
