I own this movie on dvd. I think I watched it when I first pulled off the shrink wrap early in the Obama adminstration and not once since, so I greatly enjoyed watching it again. I remember watching an interview with Martin McDonagh who said that he set the movie in Bruges because of a family vacation he took there with his parents. He said he was just enchanted by the medieval, fairy-tale atmosphere of the place... and at the same time he was bored out of his goddamn mind. So when he wrote the script, he turned those two sentiments into two separate characters. It really is a hidden gem that deserved more of an audience.
