I know that Meryl said she didn't want to do crone or witch roles when she turned a certain age because she felt it illustrated how older women were perceived in Hollywood, but I hope she hasn't written off pig roles because I think she really needs to share her gritty take on Peppa. And I just realized there is a very obvious Thatcher joke to be made here.

Confession time: On the whole, over the years I've not been much of a Martin Short fan. In fact, rather the opposite, I just found his characterizations (deliberately obnoxious, I know) hard to be around. But with this show... I didn't mind him at all in season 1, I got quite involved with him and touched by his scenes in season 2, and now in season 3... I think he's just off-the-charts adorable and I love seeing him and Meryl together. Who would ever have guessed what a lovely couple they make?

Well this was the cutest episode ever… Martin Short and Meryl Streep are wonderful together. Apparently they’re an item in real life now, and I can’t help but imagine that they’re just as delightful. And yeah, Charles really stepped in it this time. I started the episode thinking Joy might be completely bananas, but no, she’s just incredibly open (and a little nuts, but like, in a positive way). Charles, however… I think the juxtaposition is striking - he mentions how he couldn’t understand why she wanted to be with him after so many years seeing him so closely. He couldn’t quite fathom being chosen. But on the flip side - is he really choosing to be with Joy, or is she merely convenient? His entire bone-headed apology was about his thoughts, his feelings, and his insecurities. Never once was she a factor in there. Frankly, I would’ve walked too. I really hope Charles can turn it around. As the straight-man character, she's probably exactly the kind of crazy he needs. On a happier note - Kevin/fondue pot - Excellent choice! The last bridal shower I went to, the bride was gifted at least 4 crock pots and more towels than anyone could ever need, lol.

Yeah, Meryl and Martin's chemistry is off the charts! Oliver and Loretta are both such weirdos, but in different ways that complement each other, I love them together so much! Also, Jonathan's two songs from this episode are also on the season 3 soundtrack, along with all the musical numbers. They're very good!
