I did really enjoy Arcane but I had some issues with this season. I thought they tried to cram too much into it and I didn’t like how separated and side-lined some of the characters were. It’s a beautiful show with interesting themes and intriguing characters but the pacing felt off and they relied a bit too much on shock value events like bringing back Vander. Overall, still a great show and I’m glad I watched it.

I’m always a bit sad when you finish reacting to a show I enjoy but I do count down the weeks until you finish a show because I enjoy the excitement and mystery of speculating about the new show.

A Joe reaction with you re-watching would be great!

Yeah, that's kind of my takeaway too. Three shorter seasons might have been better, but I understand the need to avoid outstaying one's welcome

Yeah it's a good show but it has its rough edges especially season 2. Personally I just can't get on board with Vander brought back.

Panos

Surprised nobody mentioned that Jinx is supposed to have survived. There are a few subtle clues in the end of the episode that prove this and i think the showrunners have confirmed it.

I looked into that this morning, and you are right. The clues were subtle, and I missed them. I am so happy for that outcome, though.

Mostly agreed, though Vander's resurrection wasn't one of my issues. I'm ok with that sort of thing in fantasy stories so long as it has major permanent consequences and isn't just an undo button, which was certainly the case here, we were never getting Vander back to anything like who he was before even before he was fully converted to one of Viktor's minions. My issues are more around character motivations, especially Caitlyn's whiplash of going from joining Ambessa to being back on Vi's side without really seeing her take a journey to get there. Or Viktor and Ambessa's invasion bringing the upper and undercities together without really working through their very longstanding grievances.

Man for whatever issues I have in this season (as discussed in the other thread), these are some of the most incredible sequences ever animated, and I do think pretty much all the character arcs ended in the right place even if there were some stumbling blocks getting there- Viktor and Jayce's sacrifice, Powder's (maybe) sacrifice, Mel presumably making things better in her homeland, Vi and Cait together. The 2d artstyle shifts in Powder's opening scene and in that final scene between Jayce and Viktor reminds me a bit of some sequences from Your Name, a wonderful anime film that uses some similar (and similarly visually stunning) artstyle shifts in service of a beautifully told story.

It is a great show and I'm glad you enjoyed it. It would be still fun to have another watch along with both of you. There should be future shows, again the game itself has not 'plot' you are progressing through, but the lore has many different locations, Piltover is not the "central" one there are several. So they could do two seasons there, two seasons elsewhere, etc. It's really fun to see people unfamiliar with the game watch the show. If you've played you know Jinx, you know what echo's powers are, what Viktor is, so you're watching to see how they get to those things, having some idea of the end state.

Also, since you enjoyed it so much, and without saying you should watch all the cinematics (there are a ton), I do think you would like checking out these: "Bite Marks" Cinematic which shows you Mel after the events of the show and where she's going next. Also has Black Rose leadership (which players know who the Deceiver is) at the end. https://youtu.be/I76wvt0aEE4?si=fIROBlOwSq0EBgzT Then this is just a fun cinematic that shows you Caitlin and Vi (and others) that was done before the show. You can see some conceptualization of the characters that they then fleshed out in the show. https://youtu.be/aR-KAldshAE?si=vUAwd4leksMUzzCK

Truly the highest achievement in my opinion for the show, is the animation.
