One of those times where I think the Oscar went to the wrong person in the movie. Meryl Streep should have gotten Actress, with Nicole Kidman having just one real standout scene in what’s otherwise just a drug haze. It also doesn’t help that she’s saddled with that prosthetic nose, which just makes you wonder why anyone thought it was necessary. There’s all kinds of actors who have given great performances as real people without looking exactly like them.

There was definitely some category fraud here; at no point did this feel like Kidman was playing the lead role in the film.
