British Breakfasts 101: Shredded Wheat - the massive brick seen in S1E1. (I never broke it up when I was in UK, I preferred the challenge!) Shredded Wheat Bitesize - the tiny version. I'm sure they're fine for beginners... Shreddies - something else again. Maybe we'll see those in S5. Guinness - this does actually qualify. (I remember being at Heathrow one time and there was loads of it being drunk ahead of the 5am flight to Dublin). Fun fact - doctors used to write people prescriptions for Guinness! The Full Monty - massive cooked Full English, you know the drill. Kippers - smoked fish. (As heard in the Red Dwarf catchphrase - "Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast!") I'll let others chime in, there's a bunch more. 🤩

Not-so-fun fact: ACL injuries are up to three times more prevalent in women's football than men's football. They're still looking into it.

Kirsten Stewart

I love Alice so much, such a great addition to the cast. I also appreciate that they immediately identify the challenges inherent to women’s sports that set up a very different coaching scenario for Ted.

I don't know the actor who plays her, but she is so wonderfully expressive! I am very much looking forward to having her in the ensemble.

- Henry is played by a different actor this season than S1-3. - "You're the Inspiration" playing during the scene with Ted and Beard is (*chef's kiss*) - There is no rat in the Harry Potter play. :P - I love Alice Chilton so much. I was afraid they were setting her up as just a fuddy-duddy so Ted could be her foil. But the writers really took some care with her (she seems more at odds with Rebecca at the moment, in fact), and I love that above all else, she's fiercely devoted to her players.

I'm sure the Full English Breakfast is wonderful, but black pudding is a thing Americans can universally NOT get behind.

I hadn’t had exposure to Tanya Reynolds before but she’s an absolute delight. Her ability to act/emote with minimal twitches is so impressive.

Wow, they recast Henry well. For sure, Alice Chilton is a very welcome addition to the coaching staff. I'm also glad they addressed the decision to hire a man to coach the team (not unheard of in women's sports certainly, but it was worth exploring briefly).

We have apparently seen her in Emma (2020), but I certainly didn't make the connection. She's wonderful!

Yes, lots of debate and research about whether it’s women’s physiology or what. Also potentially related to the fact that more women’s teams play on artificial grass which is associated with more injuries. But IIRC, ACL injuries are also more common in female basketball players than male.

Dr Ozzy

Yeah I know they've been studying the effect of different stages of menstruation and its effect on ACL tears and there does seem to be some physiological link. Hopefully they can figure out ways to combat it because it is so sad how often it happens.

I'm Canadian, and I LOOOOOVE black pudding, especially the artisanal ones (not the commercial tasteless ones) Perhaps our shared Commonwealth heritage comes to front here ;-)
