Love Pete’s “called into work on a Sunday” outfit

The priest is a Jesuit and although they are liberal- as seen by Peggy's mother scolding him over how to say Grace....BUT they are fierce on spreading the faith so he truly sees his calling as "saving" Peggy

Roger definitely is a "thrill of the chase" guy who gets bored with what whatever he has and ignores the good in it- and that happens more and more. I'll stop there to avoid spoilers....it's because he's rich and entitled. Don for being brazen is actually the conservative one since he had to claw for everything he has achieved so values things more in an odd way. Mohawk for example is more than just a client- he truly feels bad when the CEO told him in the prior episode that "You said we don't need a big airline we're going to make you a big airline."...yes he is still is in things for himself as Cooper spotted with the Atlas Shrugged trope in Season 1...but he want to bring you along with him across the finish line.

I can tell that Don took that as a personal loss. Everything he achieves he takes sincerely and it shows. I always took Rogers "thrill" seeking as a mid life crisis of some sort. The more his character unfolds it's clear that it is something deeper.

When this came out this ambiguity about a potential sexual tension WAS debated...since Wiener likes to tease to get you to actually examine the character's motives....in fact the Priest very well might be tempted and is channeling his own tensions into doubling down on being "professional" which means to convert rather than seduce her. Pope Francis THIS VERY past week made some comments hinting about allowing married clergy like Protestants and raised conservative eyebrows...so Wiener is actually giving a tertiary character like the Priest a nuanced three-dimensional personality- he is a real 30 year old male with human feelings that need to be repressed

If you rewatch Season 1 Episode 4 you will catch a very quick exchange between Bert Cooper and Roger Sterling where they look at picture from the 1920s where Roger is a boy and Cooper is a grown man. Cooper then says "you were cute back then....Peanut". It's easy to miss the fact that Roger's FATHER is also in that picture. The suggestion is that Roger's dad and Bert Cooper are the Sterling and Cooper in the name of the firm and Roger inherited his partnership- that is all the viewer knows at this point of season 2- and that is what adds to the view that Roger is entitled since he didn't earn his role as #2 in the firm

Dude I think "stopping there to avoid spoilers" is kind of spoilery in itself :D

I just noticed that in the last scene, the egg is blue and so is Anita's dress, and knowing what I know about this show's costume design and how they tell a story through it, I don't think it is coincidental. Also, father Gill is like Elvis to that community, someone who literally speaks the word of God. So this is why they are fawning over him. And you are right, Betty is channeling her frustrations with Don to Bobby, because she sees a lot of Don in him.

I read a great interview with Colin Hanks recently where he talked about his career in relationship to his father’s and one really interesting thing he said was (paraphrasing), “Everyone always assumes I’m envious, but it’s not about that. I could never have his career and he could never have mine because we’re different people. No one is going to cast me as Forrest Gump, but he wouldn’t be as effective as I am doing the stuff I do either.” I think this episode is a really good example of what Colin Hanks does better than almost anybody. He’s not the leading man or the best friend or the bad guy. He’s the guy you’re just not sure about. Is he shifty or is he just quiet? Is he a weasel or is he incapable of making a decision? He has the face of a man with secrets - maybe they’re not horrible secrets, but they are secrets that bother him. That’s why he was cast in this role. We don’t know his designs on Peggy. We don’t even know that he has them. We know he’s interested in her, but we don’t know why. And that lack of knowledge mirrors Peggy’s own uncertainties about what world she belongs in and what she deserves. I don’t think we’re supposed to know what the priest really wants. He’s as unknowable as the face of God.

Oh, and the child is Anita's 100% . It is known and it is not spoilery to tell you.

Right? The story telling in this show is insane. Yes they aren't being very subtle with how Betty is feeling.

Youtalkingtome

Agreed with the comparison. Colin is a fantastic character actor and his father is a great actor and movie star. You can tell there is something going on with the priest and we will just have to wait and see.

Probably caused by me! For the record - I've only seen Mad Men once all the way through, and do not have spoilery memories of how that all played out - I was commenting as if it was my first time watching as well so whichever way it ends up playing out it was not spoken with any memory of future episodes. I have no idea if I was right or wrong, just how I interpreted it during your first-time watching. LOST and West Wing I have full cannon memorized but I'm just here for the second time through with Mad Men with vague outlines of how it all went down. :) Apologies if I made it sound like I was overstepping!
