When I moved to LA I was so excited to experience my first Santa Ana Winds just because of this episode.

Guys -- these are 13-episode seasons, remember? :) (The first & last seasons both got 5 extra episodes added, but 13 is the basic number.) We're close to the end of Season 2. As I alluded last week, The Santa Ana Wind is maybe my favorite guest character they ever did. What other series would personify a wind as a falsetto crooner right out of the Four Seasons? (And indeed, the actor, Eric Michael Roy, has appeared onstage in Jersey Boys.) And Nathaniel's "Let's Have Intercourse" is hilariously closely modeled on Ed Sheeran's "Thinking Out Loud" and its music video, including the silent female dancer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lp-EO5I60KA

I live in Chicago right next to the lake, and the winds can get really crazy. To this day when I’m walking against the wind, I automatically think, “you can’t push the wind!” It’s been years, and I can’t get that guy out of my head.

I recommend giving Harry Potter another chance. The first movie is the most child like, but they do get darker and more mature as the characters age. I know a decent amount of reactors that didn't think they would like it, and thought the first movie was for children, but then they became huge fans, and were taking all the test, and wearing the clothes and wands before the series was over.

I second that 100%, it's well worth giving it a chance. The series didn't become a world phenomenon for no reason. Plus I don't know how important that is to you guys, but Harry Potter reactions are all the rage on Youtube eve since that new Hogwarts videogame came out.

For now I think we're just trying to get them interested again. They aren't going to want to read the books if they are saying they don't want to watch the movies. Some people are intimidated by the later books. Baby steps. They don't even have a toe in the door yet. But yes, if they like it they should then read the books too.

I agree that the books (and, as a result, the movies) get progressively darker after the first one. I love the fairy-tale quality of the first book and I've read it more times than any of the others, but that is mostly because later on they start introducing characters I hate *khm* Umbridge *khm* or killing off characters I love and I cannot handle it. but yeah, a bit of knowledge about HP is a must for any reactor, I feel. the guys immediately recognised that Nathaniel is a Slytherin, which for me is enough as a first step ^^

so, yeah, just a heads-up, things will get a lot crazier for a minute here. so hold on for the ride. I absolutely love this episode. The Santa Ana winds character was amazing. Nathaniel propositioning Rebecca was equal parts masterfully done and cringy, and Darryl's song to Paula was such a refreshing view on friendship that I remember regularly. the next few episodes.... they are a blur for me, and I expect they might be a bit of a blur for you too :D cannot wait for you to experience the madness.

:-( okay, it is a bit disappointing you won't even give it a chance. IDK what you didn't like about it. Really I've only known one reactor to refuse to go through with it, even though his wife (reaction partner) was willing. But he got through 4 movies, he did like them, but he was upset it didn't answer all his questions right away.

This is one of my favorite (if not my favorite) episode of this series! Love the SA Winds, and, of course, I love Nathaniel, even if he is a love interest for one of the top 3 disliked characters of the show! Him being a Slytherin just makes me love him more! The HP books are better than the movies! I am NOT with Paula, she is a terrible friend to Daryl, she treats him worse than she felt Rebecca treated her. And did she think of Scott's pride or feelings when she eagerly and intentionally tried to have an affair with another man, and the only reason she didnt was due to someone else stopping her?
