Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Season 3, Episode 1

Congrats on arriving at Season 3! In season 1 all the episode titles ended with an exclamation point (she was giddy with excitement). In season 2, with its ups and downs, they had question marks. Now they end with periods, make of that what you will. And they still always mention Josh. "Where's Rebecca Bunch?" could be an opening number in an old-school musical or operetta that featured "jolly villagers" -- the handiest example is probably "Belle" from Beauty and the Beast. It's worth a rewatch for all the clever details, like the signs (how far is Ye Olde West Covina from the beach?), or Nathaniel being the only aristocrat. "Let's Generalize About Men" is clearly a Pointer Sisters riff, complete with big hair and shoulder pads. No Josh in this one -- but we did get his British look-alike, Colin!

Oh, and one tiny terminology thing FYI: a monastery isn't for priests. It's for monks (brothers) just as a convent is for nuns (sisters). A priest is Father, and generally serves in a church after being ordained. PS: FIVE songs coming up next week! Pay close attention, there'll be a quiz afterward....

Season 3, here we go. These next several episodes are pretty intense, so get ready. Some of my favorite songs are coming up....though I feel like I'm always saying that, since the quality of music in this show continues right through the whole time. "Let's Generalize About Men" is hilarious, and I always link to in whenever I see women complaining online about things like men leaving socks NEXT to the hamper. It's a song that manages to be both feminist and anti-feminist at the same time.

The first four episodes of this season have the highest number of replayed songs on my playlist. You are in for some great ones!

The writing is as brilliant as always. Season 3 for a lot of the shows we are watching seems to be when stuff gets real.

I know you'll get around to watching the live show eventually, but let me tell you - watching them perform Let's Generalize About Men on a stage and having such a great time really elevates the song to a whole new level.
